Cannot find Outlook plugin

PM

Hi

I have installed the Outlook plugin, but cannot find it when looking through the add-ins. It seemed to install correctly. I am on Windows 7 64bit and Outlook 2010 32bit.

This is the only reason I upgraded to premium and have since found out you don't do refunds if bought through the app store!

Hi Paul,

Please try uninstalling the plugin through the Control Panel (OutlookTodoist) and while Outlook is closed, clear the cache for IE, then try running the install again.

Do you have any security software installed, corporate network or anything such as this?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon

I have just done as you suggested and it did not work. There is still nothing for Todoist appearing in the list of add-ons in Outlook.

I am running in a corporate network and there is only Sophos anit-virus software running. I have other add-ons in Outlook such as Mindjet and Evernote and they are working fine.

Paul.

Paul,

Are you downloading the install file from our main website? And you receive no errors on install?

I would suggest giving this version a try, but we have not had any issues with the plugin being installed. https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/cd2fb847eb3397185b45a892c8d94dc5/as/OutlookTodoist.Adx.exe

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon

I did download it from your main website and received no errors when I installed.

I have downloaded from the link you provided and installed that, it installed without any errors, but it is still not appearing in the add-ons??!

Hello Paul,

Please confirm - you don't see OutlookTodoist in Options -> Add-ins, COM Add-ins at all but it does appear as installed in "Programs & Features"?

Did you try to contact your system administrator about it? Our plugin uses an IE frame to connect to Todoist through the side pane, it may be possible that you can't install such add-ins at your workplace even though other offline add-ins work.

Best regards,
David

Hi David

To confirm, I don't see Outlook Todoist in the COM Add-ins, but it appears in the Programs and Features as an installed program.

I haven't specifically asked the question, but when I asked the IT administrator, who helped me uninstall and install as per Brendon's suggestion, if they could think of any reason why it wouldn't work, they couldn't think of anything.

I will try and ask the question specifically tomorrow.

Thanks, Paul.

Hi David

I have checked with our IT guys and there is no block on these add-ins - I work at a Uni and therefore there are no restrictions. The IT guy also check the IE add-ons and there is nothing there. He also tried uninstalling and installing again with no success.

Paul,

Is there any way to test to see if it will install on another system within your work? This is very unusual. We have never had issues related to getting the plugin to install (unless network restricted) before.

Do you have the .NET framework installed, and is IE updated to the latest version?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon

I have had success! When the IT guy tried installing it on his PC, he didn't have the Windows PC client installed, and it was successful. So, we uninstalled both the Windows client and the Outlook add-in, closed Outlook and then installed the Outlook add-in again.

This does seem strange that you can't have both installed on you computer at the same time??!

Paul,

You can have both installed, and this would be a first of hearing this type of issue. I am glad it's working, but I will pass this along to the developers, as it does seem weird.

If there is anything else you can tell me about the system, and which version of the Desktop app you had installed.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Brendon,

It is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. I installed version 2.5.0.0.
