Web versions not syncing

MH

The last couple of days have seen me experience a complete lack of syncing between the different incarnations of Todoist.

My Chrome web browser isn't syncing with the Chrome extension, and the iPhone and iPad version aren't syncing with each other or either Chrome flavour. I've tried logging out and back in again and deleting and reinstalling apps. No good!

Hello Michael,

Having the Chrome web-version and Chrome extension out of sync should not be possible as both store and read the same cached data.

Please make sure you're always logging into the same account on every platform, use the same login method (manual or via Google Login) and resync everything manually as on a free account, automatic syncing is not supported.

David

Can I attach a screenshot?

Doesn't look like it. Pic hosted here instead: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2883/10925254183_77151d0509_o.png

As you can see there is a difference between the Chrome numbers. When I open up the Extension it corrects to match, then a few minutes later resets - in this case to a difference of four tasks.

Also, I'm consistently logged in manually and have tried multiple refreshes on all devices/browsers.

Michael,

That's very unusual, please tell me - when you click on the Chrome extension icon, does it change the number? Also, does clicking on the sync icon at the bottom of the Chrome extension help?

If not, try to go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data and delete all instances of todoist.com from this list. Reload the browser, log back in first through the web and see if it helps.

David

Number does change, but then resets a minute or two later.
Logging out of the browser and then back in again resets that number to the incorrect one: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3765/10926404534_25e5e4fde4_o.png - refreshing doesn't revert it, but it does reset the extension number back to the incorrect version.

I had been using Todoist without any hiccups for 5 months or more until this started 3-4 days ago. It might have been at about the same time the browser version asked me to change my timezone?

Thanks for your time David.

Michael,

Yes, the time change might have caused this issue and we did have a similar report recently from a user who got asked to change the zone in the extension and then again on the web and so on and in his case, clearing the cache solved it as this triggered the question once on the web and then no more in the extension.

Are you still being asked about the time in either the web or the extension? Also, please confirm - did you try to delete Todoist's data from the "All cookies and site data" section in the setting? Even if you clear the cache normally, it may not delete all this data as Todoist also uses HTML5 offline storage.

Clearing the 'All cookies' took a few goes! Logging out and a couple of other bits before it was certainly gone.

I seem to recall being asked to correct timezone twice within a couple of minutes of each other - I can't remember if this was in the browser twice or browser once and extension once.

There were three lines of Todoist data in the All Cookies section before I deleted them. Have I duplicated something by accident?

Michael,

It's normal if you've seen multiple offline data packs there, the Chrome extension may want to identify it as chrome.todoist.com the web version just as todoist.com so that's not the issue.

That said, so none of this has fixed the issue and you continue to see a different task count on the web as in the extension after clearing all this offline data and logging back in?

If so, please try to access the web-version, go to the Settings and make sure you have the correct time zone set there and then log into the extension and see if it will ask you to adjust the time.

I have deleted all the offline data twice.
I tried changing my timezone. It immediately asked if I wanted to set it back to GMT, then did so a second time a moment later. It also reset the task count back.

This is on a Mac, the tasks in question are all repeating tasks.

And turning my iGadgets back on returns them to the incorrect count.

Michael,

I suspect it has something to do with the time zone and most likely the incorrect task count probably includes tasks that are due tomorrow and counts them as due today.

Unfortunately, I'm unsure how else you could fix it as based on the past similar report we've had, clearing the offline data and then accepting the time zone suggested by Todoist fixed it permanently.

I will pass it to the developers now and I'll let you know once I hear from them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

David,

Tasks that are cleared reappear. It doesn't matter which device/browser I use, the cleared tasks reappear even if I clear them across the devices/browser.

Thanks for your help. Looking forward to a solution.
