How can I sort by task name

MA

I name my tasks in a way that sorting allows them to be grouped together. However, with recent todoist update - all email tasks are sorted together on the top. Blowing up my strategy =(

What can I do to get things to actually sort by name.

Hi Michael,

Within each project, top right of Project Name, you will find a menu that will allow you to sort by name, priority or date. This has been the same for a while now but is only available within Projects.

Can I ask how you were naming your tasks and how you were viewing these tasks? Was this on the Today view, or another custom view?

Thanks,
Brendon.

I am naming my tasks like this.

Category Name - Task
Category Name - Task 2
Category Name - Task 3
Category Name - Task 4
Category Name - Task 5
Category Name2 - Task
Category Name2 - Task 2
Category Name2 - Task 3
Category Name2 - Task 4
Category Name2 - Task 5

Emails which are added go on top of everything, regardless of the first letter of the email. You are doing some kind of alpha sorting using the email symbol as a character.

The view i'm using is the project view - sorted by name.
so I have a project called
@desk

all of the tasks I need to do at my desk are on that project, grouped by task category.

Hello Michael,

When a task is added as a link to an email it indeed contains some hidden tags starting with [[gmail=783625784... etc. which may affect the sorting order. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We'll look into this and see if we can improve the sorting options to omit this formatting, but for now please note that even though these email tasks will be at the top, within this "block" of tasks, they will be sorted by name correctly.

Best regards,
David

Thanks,

is making your tool not useful for me =( Having multiple groups of associated tasks - has ruined my flow I've had for the last 2+ years.
