Tbird : email added task requires IMAP account selected to open?

KG

Hi - trying out Todist free, I have TBird 24 with the Todoist plugin. Tbird has 3 IMAP accounts. I have added two tasks via "Add email as task", one from two of the three email accounts.

It appears that todoist can only open the email associated with the task if that IMAP email account is the current one selected / being viewed in tbird. Otherwise he just spins.

Is this correct and if so, is there some way to get todist to open the email even if another account is selected?

Thanks - Kirk

Hello Kirk,

Our plugin does not require to use IMAP, I've just checked it with multiple POP3 accounts with no issues. Please tell me - do you have a separate folder structure (inbox, sent etc.) for each account or are you using one common folder where mails from multiple accounts are being added to?

Best regards,
David

Yes, each IMAP account has all of that. They are separate and distinct but tbird connects to all of them. I haven't used POP in a decade, server stored IMAP folders are all we use. - Kirk

Kirk,

Please tell me - do you have just one email selected as you try to use the "Add email as task" option and what operating system are you using?

Best regards,
David

Add email as task works most of the time. This is a case where I already have tasks linked to the original email message. One to IMAP account A, the other to IMAP account B.

If IMAP account B is the account I am viewing in tbird, i.e. I have a folder on that account open in the All Folders view, selecting the todoist task created from IMAP account A results in todist just spinning., it will eventually time out. No email opens.

The same behavior happens if I am viewing a folder in IMAP account A and select the todist task created from a message in IMAP account B.

To get todoist to open the email message linked to the task I have to be viewing a folder within the IMAP account the task was created from.

Task created from A, Viewing folder in A = YES
Task created from B, Viewing folder in A = NO
Task created from B, Viewing folder in B = YES
Task created from B, Viewing folder in A = NO

It is like todist has no concept of multiple accounts existing in Tbird. Like is it looking for message 123 when it needs to be looking for IMAPA:123 or IMAPB:123.

Or it is assuming a unified INBOX. Actually, it seems to assume that operationally. After that thought occurred to me, I just changed to Unified Folder view, selected the unified INBOX and todist can open both email messages without error. If I select the individual IMAP account from the unified UNBOX we get the timeout behavior I mentioned above.

Platform is Win 7 64b, SP1

Hope this helps in some way. - Kirk

Kirk,

Thanks for the detailed information, this will be very useful in finding a fix. I will let the developers know about this and hope for a fix soon.

Thanks,
