Todoist slow in Firefox
I've been using Todoist in Firefox for a long time, but lately it seems like it's slowing down my entire system. When I have Todoist open in my browser, my Firefox CPU % usage spikes and the system starts to hang when scrolling through tasks or checking them off. When I close Todoist or run it with Chrome, the issue seems to go away.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.5, Firefox 24.0, and Todoist Premium.
I would suggest clearing the cache for Firefox and see if they helps with the issue.
Brendon - thanks for your reply. On your suggestion I cleared the Firefox cache, not sure it did anything though. It seems like the little progress bar at the top right of the Todoist screen (which runs when editing or completing a task) is just repeating over and over again even when I'm not interacting with Todoist. That seems to be the source of the slowness, not sure why though.
Do you have a strong consistent connection to the internet? If it is working within Chrome and so forth, then it does appear to be Firefox. Did you recently update to a beta version?
Brendon - yes, I'm on a solid wired connection. I haven't updated to any Beta, I only use 24.0. Still seeing the issue again this morning.
Please tell me - how many tasks do you have on your account approximately and do you have any other plugins other than Todoist? If so - try to disable them and leave just Todoist and see if the issue persist. If not, re-enable one by one and see which one causes this problem. The app/plugin should certainly not sync so long and so often.
David - I have about 500 tasks in total. I don't think I'm using the Firefox plugin for Todoist, pretty sure it's just the web app. The strange thing I've been seeing is that the problem comes and goes, right now it's OK. It seems to happen more often when I quickly check off many tasks in succession.
Please see if you have any other extensions for Firefox installed and disable them, and see if it continues. If it does not, enable them one by one to figure out which could be causing it.
Besides this, we are unable to reproduce this issue with Firefox.
Brendon - OK, I'll test that out and see how it goes. In terms of what I should disable, you mentioned extensions and David mentioned plugins - which is it?
They are the same thing :)
Brendon - in my Firefox they are clearly labeled in two different categories. Extensions are things like Feedly, Google Shortcuts, of which I only have a few and would be easy to disable/test. Plugins are Java, Silverlight, Flash, etc. I have about 20 of these.
So, which are you referring to?
Sorry, you are correct. We are talking about extentions in this example.
I tested it over the weekend, disabled all extensions, but it's still happening. Any other ideas?
Unfortunately we aren't able to reproduce this and you appear to be the first case of having this issue.
It could also be an addon (non extensions, flash etc) that could be causing it but that is very unlikely. We will keep an eye on this and if you can think of anything that has changed recently that would cause this let us know.
Sorry for the trouble.
Brendon - just wanted to let you know that I was still having the same issue, but since upgrading to Mavericks I've suddenly not seen it for a few days now. Not sure why that would be, but I will check back if it returns.
Thanks for your help.
