Outlook email links not working in Todoist website

I have pro account and use Exchange. I can add an email as a task and the Outlook plugin shows the task and allows me to click on it to open the relevant email (so far so good)!

If I navigate to the Todoist website and click on the same task/email link in there, nothing happens. Surely a copy of the email should open/become visible?

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Charles,

Unfortunately with the way our system works at the moment the email links need to be opened where they were created. So say if you created it with our Chrome extension with Gmail, they need to be opened with Gmail, same with Outlook.

We hope we can change and improve this in the future but at the moment this is how it works.

Thanks,
Brendon.

OK, not ideal.

Would be very useful/consistent if there was a way to get around this.

Hello Charles,

As Brendon mentioned, we will look into implementing such option although the issue is that this task is nothing else than just a link containing the unique ID of the email in your inbox in Outlook so the best we could do with it, as it is now, is to force Outlook to open up as you click on this link, but that's also a difficult for a web-app to launch a local app.

There is of course the alternative option of managing emails with Todoist - by sending them to your project rather than linking to them in which case the entire message becomes a task note, but then - you lose the option of having a link to it.

You can read about both methods and their advantages in this article on our blog: https://todoist.com/blog/2013/01/zero-inbox-policy-with-todoist/

Best regards,
David
