Stuck Reminder

I have one reminder that is set for a time. It is a recurring note for tuesdays at 4pm.

every tuesday @ 4:00 pm

The problem is, whenever I do not complete the task on Tuesday, the reminder gets stuck on my iPhone and pops once or more a day even though I have marked the task as completed on Wednesday. When I look at it in notifications, it says '3 days ago' or whatever, but it just keeps popping. This has happened several times before and the only way to get it cleared is to remove and reinstall ToDoIst. Any better ideas or do you know why this happens?

Hello David,

Please try to delete this task, reinstall our app and then re-add it and let us know if the issue will persists with the new task.

Best regards,
David

I've done that twice in the past....when I didn't clear the task on the due date. Reinstalling the app always works, just seems that this is a bug that has been persistent for over a year now. Once I reinstall, as soon as I do not clear that task on it's due date, I will have this problem again. Also, I have noticed that the new iPhone notifications occurs each time I update something in ToDoist on any machine. Any update of any task generates a new notification of this task that was marked as completed on Wednesday.

David,

Please clarify - you are using our official iOS app version 6.0.3?

Yes. iOS app version 6.0.3 (11018) and I have a premium subscription. This task was recurs on Tuesdays at 4:00pm. I didn't mark it complete until Wednesday, but now, with each update of ToDoist on the laptop, it causes a new notification to pop on the iPhone.

David,

I've tried to reproduce this issue again - created a task with a similar recurring date, got the reminder, but didn't complete or postpone the task. Did changes on the web, waited for 1 day and nothing, I still haven't received any further reminders about it.

Please clarify what exact changes do you make on the web that trigger another reminder? You add a task and then without doing anything on your phone, the moment you save the task on the web, you get a reminder? Or are you syncing the iOS app when this happens? Are you making changes to any other task or the one in question? We would appreciate any details describing the exact process that could help us trigger this issue.

Best regards,
David

Every morning, I get an iPhone notification for the task. This morning, it said '5 days ago' to the side.

The, just now on my computer (Mac) I went in and clicked 'complete' on a recurring task due today (not time specific). Hit the update button. Moments later, my iPhone sends a notification for the stuck task, but does not say '5 days ago' just says 'Inbox'.

After 5 minutes. I completed another task, this time just a one time task. Hit the update button. Moments later I get the iPhone notification (inbox).

This problem task repeats tomorrow at 4pm Eastern. If you don't find what is causing it, I wonder if doing it on time tomorrow will clear this notification.

David,

Please clarify what "update" button are you referring to?

On my Mac, I'm clicking the checkbox, which grays out the task. Then I'm clicking on the update, or sync, button in the lower right hand corner of the window which clears the task from the window.

Just now, I clicked the checkbox on another task, and did not hit the update button. Still, a few moments later my iPhone notification popped while the grayed out task is still present, so that update/sync button has nothing to do with it.

David,

Just tried that - still nothing. I will pass it to the developers, though as I suspect it may be an issue on Apple's side, a similar report from the past suggested that their server (which we use to send push notifications) sometimes sends them either incorrectly or twice, this may be related. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

I am having the same issue, nine months after this was reported. Mine is not a recurring task, it was a one-off. Actually, this is the second reminder its done this for me. I've deleted and reinstalled the app and it seems to have fixed the problem. Nine months and still no resolution seems kind of ... bad. Seems like it should be a simple fix. I just paid for the premium service and am contemplating paying it for my new hire, but I'm a bit worried about the responsiveness/willingness in addressing issues.

Casey,

We are sorry about that. Is this the first time you re-installed the app, many of the reports state that doing this resolves it, and it does not happen again.

Regards,
Brendon.
