Why is my task count always off by one?
On both the chrome plugin and iphone app the task badge count is 3 (on chrome it is a red 3). I only have 2 tasks due today and when I click on the chrome plugin it changes to a black 2 (iPhone stays 3). Chrome eventually goes back to a red 3. What is the difference in color and why do the numbers change?
I don't think I have any overdue tasks.
The red badge suggests that some of your tasks are overdue while the black one just counts tasks due today (and it's black if you don't have overdue tasks).
If you have 2 tasks due today and the badge shows a red 3, do you have 1 task due tomorrow? If so, then the badge is trying to get the state of your tasks one day ahead, seeing two yesterday's tasks and one new for tomorrow which it thinks is today.
This can happen if there are any time zone inconsistencies between Todoist's settings and all devices you use it on. Please make sure that you have the time zones set up correctly and if you saw a message on Todoist asking you to adjust the zone, please always agree.
I do not have any overdue tasks, at least nothing that Todoist is showing me when I search with "overdue". I also have no "no date" tasks.
I did have some tasks for tomorrow but I moved them to Sunday. I still get the red 3 on chrome (that switches temporarily to a black 2) and my phone still says 3.
I understand, however the problem itself is caused not by having overdue tasks, but most likely by the system thinking it's already tomorrow and seeing your today's tasks as overdue (which they're not).
Again, this can happen if there are any time zone differences, therefore please tell me:
- Do you have the same time zone set in Todoist as on your computer?
- Did Todoist ask you to adjust your timezone and you didn't agree?
- Have you traveled between time zones recently?

Its weird. I don't have any tasks due until Sunday, which is > 24 hours from now.
We've made some changes now, please confirm if the issue persists. If it does, log out, go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, remove "todoist.com" from this list, reload Chrome and log back in and see if this helps. Also, make sure you're using the latest stable version of Chrome (29.0.1547.66 m).
If this won't help, I will pass this to our developers.
