why is it not working?

J

I've just searched for an uncompleted task, found it in completed task, said to do it today, it didn't move to today, changed the date to today and it's still not moving to today :-(

All responses

Hi Jacalyn,

Where was this task created? (mobile, web version)
If Mobile, Android or iOS?
Where did you change the date, mobile or web?

Do you have a constant internet connection?

Thanks,
Brendon.

It seems to be just one task that is playing up, too, because I followed similar steps for a different task and it worked....

Hi Brendon, wow, that was fast! Thanks! I'm currently on web, but I can't remember where the task was created, I have a bunch of devices including android and iOS and the task is a bit old, hence why I want to do it today. I could just leave it where it is and tick it off, I guess it's just my state of mind today...

Also, that particular task is not showing up in the project it's meant to be in, either.... Perhaps there was a bug when I created it, probably lack of internet connection, and it's just not updating

Jacalyn,

Well information about the task could be useful such as when and where it was created, also if it has any special characters used, any files attached. Unfortunately, without any more information we are unsure why this is happening, it is unusual.

The good news is as you said it's only one task, the best solution would be delete it, and recreate it if you'd like. Before doing this, I would suggest logging out on all devices, clearing the cache for your browser, clearing the data for the Android app, and seeing if the issue persists.

Are you able to complete it or delete it without issue?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Ok, task deleted. Both my android devices have this problem of showing old completed tasks on the start page - this started a couple of days ago and I was hoping it would rectify when I cleared the data, but it has not - would you like me to log another support question on the relevant site? Thanks for your help

Jacalyn,

It's fine to continue it here since it seems to be related.

So this issue was for a task that could not be edited or "do it today" and you're saying you have similar tasks on Android only? That are completed but keep showing up as...overdue, or?

And you say clearing the data does not help?

If you head to Todoist.com, Top right, Settings..What do you have set as your Start Page?

Thanks,
Brendon.

And now my iPod has this error when logging in with google: "The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -999.) But if I hit OK it has loaded perfectly.

Ahh, really, I'm sure it's fine, thanks for your prompt help

Start page is Today and Overdue on web. The android devices are showing just 5 old tasks from 43 and 12 days ago that are complete, on my start page (which is Today). and when i click on the today button on the left in the android device, it still has those 5 tasks. Ah-ha! I uncompleted, and recompleted those task, cleared the data & killed the apps, now it's working perfectly! I think those particular tasks may be been originally completed without internet connection (they were shopping list tasks, I may have been using my iPod at the time). So, moral of the story is internet connections are useful and reloading tasks may include re-completing them with internet connection, not just refreshing the page. Again, thanks for all your help. Jacalyn

Jacalyn,

Glad you have it fixed. Yes, the internet connection is a very important aspect of these types of apps, I just wanted to make sure it was not something else :)

Thanks,
Brendon.
