Thunderbird problem

PT

I have Thunderbird version 17.0.8 for ubuntu.
I install the latest xpi from file available for thunderbird: 4.1 29/8/2013.
I cannot make new task with email. The task is created but it doesn't link to an existing email. In the link there are some numbers and letters as [[thunderbird

E8A0AE70-469F-442B-87F7-588690E24756@gmail.com
]]

and when I try to open it it send me to a new email.

Can you fix this issue?
Thanks.
Pierluigi

Hello Pierluigi,

Please confirm - you open Thunderbird, our plugin, then you click on an email in your inbox so that it remains highlighted and then use the "Add email as task" link? If so - do you use it from the Quick Add menu or at the bottom of your task list?

Also, do you use POP3 or IMAP for your inbox?

Best regards,
David

I make exactly what you wrote. I tried both ""Add email as task" from the quick add menu and from the bottom. Same behaviour.

I use Imap.

PS: the emails linked contains domains (not subjects) that are present in my mailbox but are not the same of the domains that i'm linking to and when I open the created task it is as was a new mail...

Pierluigi,

Please clarify the domain-related issue on an example. You have an inbox for your email address abc@domainA.com and another for xyz@domainB.com. You then select an email from the abc@domainA.com inbox, and when you try to add it as task, what do you see? abc@domainB.com? xyz@domainA.com? Or xyz@domainB.com?

Also, do you have at least one POP3 email address so you could confirm if this issue only occurs on IMAP accounts?

David

It not an issue. I see this strange behaviour. For example in my Inbox could be many domains domainA, DomainB, DomainC, Etc...
When I try to create a task from email. the domain linked is another one but present in my mailbox. I try to link an email abc@DomainA.com and the software link "a string without any sense"@DomainC.com. you can see an example in my first post.

Sorry I don't have any POP3 account neither want to use them. I have six accounts from different providers (all IMAP).

You need to solve for IMAP.

Thanks.

Pierluigi,

Thank you for clarifying, I have two more questions, though:

1. Are you certain that you're using our plugin version 4.1? The latest available is 4.0.

2. Regarding the domain-related issue - do you have a separate inbox for each account or do you have a filter that moves mails from other domains to separate folders, but all under a certain common "inbox"?

Best regards,
David

Thank you for the answer.

1) Yes I'm sure. on the add-ons screen I see to-doist 4.1. I downloaded from mozilla repository...

2) I have a common inbox and I have multi separeted accounts.

But nothing change between choosing one of it. The same reported error.

Pierluigi,

I will pass this to the developers and we'll look into it.

I don't have any news...
Is there anybody working on it?
Thanks.

Pierluigi,

So far, we still can't reproduce it under "normal" circumstances, but the only times we could actually trigger something like that was when more than one emails were selected.

Please tell me - are you certain that this happens while you have just one single email selected in your inbox?

Best regards,
David

David.
I use Ubuntu 12.04 Lts 64 bit. Thunderbird standard distribution version. Your add-on for Thunderbird found in Mozilla marketplace. Nothing particular. Nothing strange.

This behaviour happens when I select ONE email from every mailbox in my thunderbird. You can understand that tihis behaviour compromise the use of the software (Sigh !).

Do you have tested exactly on the same mine distribution and add-on or something different?

Best regards.

Pierluigi,

We have indeed not tested it on Ubuntu yet, we'll do so now.
