Gmail Integration in 2.0

SA

Hi, I just upgraded to Todoist 2.0 and I'm not seeing gmail integration like has been detailed before here. I have the chrome plugin and I can see "add task" and "add website as a task" at the bottom of each projects, but not "add email as a task". Is this feature no longer supported?

Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,

The 2.0 update is for our Android app and not the website version or desktop plugins.

In terms of "add email as task" please make sure that the email is opened, and not just selected when adding a task in the Todoist extension.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

The email is open in gmail and I still don't see the "add email as task" link in the browser plugin.

Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Sean

Sean,

I would suggest clearing the cache for Chrome, which will also clear it for the extension. You can do this by heading into the Settings area, Show Advanced Settings --> Content Settings --> All Cookies & Site Data.

Let me know if that resolves it.

Also, let me know which version of Chrome you are running, do you have any other extensions installed?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Still didn't resolve it. I should also confess that I simply reinstalled the browser plugin when I got the email about 2.0, so this wasn't working "before" since there really wasn't any before...

I have a few installed:
-Dictionary
-MightyText
-1Password
-Pocket
-StayFocusd

and todoist.

Thanks,
Sean

Hello Sean,

Please tell me - are you using the "Preview Pane" GMail Labs extension? If you are, then unfortunately, you won't be able to use the "Add email as task" feature while it's active because this extension hides the URL that contains the unique ID of the message from the browser and our plugin requires it so that it can see that a message has been opened and know which one it is. Without this we have no way of tracking a message on Gmail.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Yeah, that's it. But I don't think I could function without preview pane, so I guess I'll have to live without the task from email feature. If you guys ever figure that one out, let me know!

Thanks,
Sean

Sean,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, but it may not be possible for us to fix this. Again, our plugin must see that you have an email opened and its unique ID. It sees this in the URL, but the Preview Pane prevents the URL from getting the email's ID.

You could try to contact the authors of the Preview Pane extension asking them to change it so that the URL will update with the message's ID just as it does without using the pane.

Best regards,
David

Is there a possibility of getting full Todoist gmail integration like what Any.DO does with an actual button and section within each email to create a task within email?

Stephen,

At the moment this is not possible, but we understand the want of the full integration with Gmail and we hope we can implement something like it in the future.

Thanks,
Brendon.
