Send email to project: is the e-mail still 'clickable' from outlook?
I uses the outlook plugin for adding emails as a task frequently. One of the best features of todoist! But I was wondering how I could add an (sent) email as a task when I am on my way to a client or something. I know about the premium feature to send an email to a project, but in that case the content of the email is added as a note. Is the email still clickable when I open todoist within Outlook? This is a strong functionality, because you can view/reply/foward the email within a few clicks.
Is a movie available which shows the functionalitiy of forwarding email to a project?
Unfortunately, what you've described is not possible. There are two ways to add emails as tasks:
1. Through a plugin - which will create a clickable link, but will require you to use the same plugin to access this message.
2. Sending it via email - which does note require any plugins, would convert the message into a task not, but you will not have a clickable link pointing to this message.
The best solution would be to use GMail instead of Outlook as then you could have clickable links, but you would be able to access these messages from everywhere because they will be stored in the cloud by GMail so when you click such link, the message would open in your browser via GMail and not require Outlook.
Thx David for your reply. I am not able to change from Outlook to Gmail. Maybe a new goal to build a plug-ins for Microsoft Exchange?
We'll keep that in mind :)
I would prefer to keep my Outlook emails within Outlook and copy paste any relevant content from the email into the notes section of ToDoIst task.
Gives me peace of mind that my emails reside with me and not on a cloud..
If you use the option to link to your messages using our Outlook plugin, your emails are not being sent or stored anywhere on the cloud, the task will only contain a link that points to the ID of a message within your Outlook and can only be accessed there.
If you use the "Email tasks to this project" feature, then even though this message gets sent to our server, it is never stored there. The server converts it into a task with a note containing the body of the message and it gets deleted instantly.
Your privacy and the security of all data on Todoist is our top priority and we can assure you that we don't store the messages that are sent.
Thank you for the clarification David.
