Single task question

U

Is it possible to have just a single task outside of a project (which is useful for single tasks obviously), or do I need to create a project with the one task in it, on those occasions?

Hello Jeff,

Although it is not possible to have a task in Todoist that isn't added anywhere (to no project), you can always use the default "Inbox" project for such situations and either leave it there if it's unrelated to anything else or move it to a different project later.

Best regards,
David

Thanks. I'm using the Web version and Outlook add on. Where is the "inbox" feature?

Jeff,

Please try to log out of all apps/plugins you are using for Todoist, and log back in. If this does not work, clearing the cache for your browser (or IE for the plugin/app) might help.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Thanks. It is showing now. Last question. What email address do I "send to" get notes or tasks into "my" inbox?

Jeff,

If you right click on the Inbox on the web version (todoist.com) and hit "email tasks to this project" you will find the email address you can email to create tasks :)

Also, if you are going to use another email address to send from, make sure it's added to the bottom of that pop-up.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I've added my email addresses, but do not seem to be getting any emails in the inbox. I've checked the email addresses and the inbox email address. It all seems correct, but just isn't working.

Jeff,

Have you added your entire address (someone@someplace.com), or just the domain (someplace.com)?

For a start, you could try the opposite of what you have set up now.

Also, have you clicked REFRESH when you've gone back into the Inbox to check to see if the mail (to be converted to a Task) has arrived?

Randy Miller

Hello Jeff,

Please let us know if what Randy said helped, but note - when adding the entire domain, use an @ at the front, that is - @someplace.com Only then it will work as a wildcard.

David

I think this is a bad idea. I like todoist because you have the workflow clean and simple. Use tags or choose another app for that need.

I have it working from one email address. I have multiple email addresses. It doesn't seem to work too well when sending from a Blackberry, but ok from a PC, so far.

Jeff,

If you use multiple email addresses to send tasks to your projects, please add all of them to the list of accepted addresses in the "Email tasks to this project" window (at the bottom).

David

Yup, I did. But the blackberry email address gets bounced back due to some long format embedded in the email address, which is different than the actual email address I'm sending from on the BB. Don't know if anyone else has had this issue.

Jeff,

If there is a certain pattern in the email address such as a common domain, please add this domain as a wildcard such as @domain.com (just with the @ and the domain name) to the list. This should enable you to receive emails from it even if the login name would change.

If the domain itself changes each time than unfortunately, there's not much that could be done as this feature requires having the domain added as an accepted domain. In that case, you could try to use Gmail from your mobile browser which shouldn't affect the domain.

Best regards,
David
