Todoist web-app (chrome) loses changes and reverts to old data

CB

Twice now I've made changes to my task list (added, completed, rescheduled tasks) and then the next day when I refresh the page (CTRL + R), it reverts back to the data that I had the night before, before making changes. It's like the changes aren't saving, but the Karma points from those changes DO seem to stick.

Hi Christopher,

If you open up Todoist in another browser, do these changes still not appear to be saved? Are you offline at any point between making these changes and the next day?

Click on the 3 Lines at the top right corner of Chrome, click Settings, click on "+ show advanced settings" then choose "Content Settings" and then "All cookies & site data".

Search for todoist and delete all items to clear the cache for Todoist. Let me know if the issue persists after doing so.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I haven't had a recurrance of the saving issue, but just had something similar come up.

Yes, my computer goes offline (sleep) at night. Today when I opened todoist, it displayed just the tasks from yesterday. When I cleared my browser cache as you instructed, and logged back in, the issue went away.

Seems to be a problem with how Todoist stores data in Chrome.

Christopher,

Just to be sure, when you open Todoist, does it get newer content if you hit the refresh button, or does clearing the cache only help?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Only clearing the cache helps. I've tried soft and hard refreshes (CTRL+R, CTRL+SHIFT+R).

The mystery continues: just now as I was using the app normally, I clicked on one of my projects and all of the tasks disappeared: http://www.evernote.com/shard/s126/sh/ec8d02be-2945-4041-8b66-da3c39097ca2/6ca2aa8ab90c67f473dcab62b68e1966

All the projects look like this. The sidebar shows my projects and tasks, but the main column thinks there aren't any.

Christopher,

What version of Chrome are you running? Do you have any extensions installed?

Thanks,
Brendon.

* Readability

* Clearly
* Stayfocused
* Buffer

Clearly was added recently, the rest have been installed for quite some time.

Christopher,

I was going to suggest disabling all extensions to see if it makes a difference, doing so with Clearly might still be worth a try, but it seems as though it is something else.

Unfortunately, unless we can reproduce this issue it becomes harder to fix. We will continue to look into it as much as possible.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Clearing the browser cache fixed this problem, but _I was actually able to make it happen again_.

From the Today view, I tried to reschedule a task to next friday (by typing "fri"), and the task remained on the page (didn't reschedule). When I refreshed the page to see if it actually had been rescheduled, the tasklist is empty again.

This is what caused it last time as well.

Chris,

If a task is due today (Friday) and you were to type in "fri" in the date area, nothing would happen because today is Friday. To reschedule to next Friday you would need to put the actual date of next Friday. Or of course, hit the Postpone button if the task is due every Friday already.

I have done this, and still able to refresh and see the tasks.

Sorry for the issues.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Thanks for the help, turns out the trigger is actually even simpler for me right now.

If I refresh the page (CTRL+R), all the tasks disappear. I'll try to disable extensions and see if that helps.

Update: I cleared my browser data and opened an incognito window (no extensions), logged into todoist, viewed the tasklist, and then hit CTRL+R. All of the tasks disappeared.

Chris,

I have tried every view, and hitting Ctrl+R does not cause this to happen. I was thinking it might some how been related to the keyboard shortcut, so trying to just click on refresh might make a difference, but that is still not the case for me.

If you use Todoist in another browser, does this issue still occur?

Thanks,
Brendon.

I've been able to test in IE10, and the problem did not occur. Seems to be isolated to Chrome.

Hello Christopher,

Unfortunately, we still can't reproduce this issue. You've mentioned that you put your computer to sleep and reload the page the next day. Please try to close your browser before you do that.

Also, how long does it sleep (approximately)? More than 12 hours?

Best regards,
David
