I have found that disabling the todoist add-in, then re-enabling it resolves the issue, but I am having to do this every time I open and close Outlook.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info. This is a known issue we've been trying to fix.

For now please try clearing the cache for Internet Explorer while Outlook is closed, and a re-installation of the plugin while outlook is running.

Thanks,
Brendon.

To clarify, you uninstalled the plugin from the Windows Add/Remove Programs area?

Thanks,

Yes, I removed the "OutlookTodoist" program from the add/remove programs in control panel. I then went into internet explorer and cleared the cache (although I don't use explorer as my browser, I use Chrome). Then I installed from the link provided.

Chris,

Sorry for the troubles. We are looking into this problem and this update should have helped.

Are you starting Outlook without an internet connection, are you always connected? If so, does starting with one already connected make a difference?

Clearing the cache for IE is required because the plugin uses IE to run. Please make sure you have the latest version, and you have .NET framework 4 installed as well. Also, please try installing the plugin again while Outlook is running (a reinstall over current install).

Thanks,
Brendon.

I am running Windows 8, and when I tried to install the latest .NET 4.0 it said it is integrated into this version of Windows. I checked Windows Update and no updates were available for .NET or IE.

I tried re-installing while Outlook was running, and the install asks me to close Outlook. If I ignore that warning, then I can't install because I keep getting errors. I closed Outlook and did another install over the current version, and still have the same problem.

I always have an internet connection when I am accessing outlook. I have never tried it without one.

BTW, this is VERY frustrating. I have been a premium uses which means I'm paying for this not to work. I just searched for something else to use to replace todoist because I'm tired of it not working, and my Google search of course lead me back to Todoist and your slogan "Get the only To-Do app that integrates seamlessly into Outlook". It DOES NOT integrate into Outlook at all! On top of that, I am an iPad user and there is no iPad app.

PLEASE GET THIS WORKING!

Chris,

We are very sorry for these issues and are working as fast as we can to release a new update. We believe we know the cause of the issue and hope to have a fix soon.

For now, we do believe having two Outlook windows open (Calender & Email) makes the issue worse. I know this is not a solution, but could give some relief while we work on the fix.

As for the iPad, we just recently submitted it to the Apple Store and should be released soon.

Again, sorry for the troubles,
Brendon.

I NEVER open 2 Outlook windows at the same time. I only open 1 window and use email 90% of the time. When I look at my calendar, I do it in the same window, then toggle back to email.

BTW, I used to think that it was only when I opened and closed Outlook that it does, it, however yesterday when my computer was unused for 10 minutes and went to the lock screen, I started getting the errors again when I logged back in.

Chris,

Thanks for the information, as I said this could make it worse but is not the cause. We hope to have a fix soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience. As a workaround we do have another way of managing emails with Todoist. Please read about it on our blog as it could be a temporary solution, although not ideal. https://todoist.com/blog/2013/01/zero-inbox-policy-with-todoist/

I will keep you updated on any progress, we hope it will be soon.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Are there any updated beta versions available to try? FYI, this has been happening for the last couple of days.

Additionally, an SSL Certificate error keeps popping up indicating that the plugin is connecting to a host with a mismatching certificate - specifically, Todoist is trying to connect to a site with a wildcard SSL certificate *.wedoist.com.

I had this error w/ win 7 outlook 2013.

I closed outlook, opened IE, which I rarely use, and purged the cache.

I then uninstalled the add-in, which should be renamed to list next to the API in the uninstall menu, so that users aren't confused.

I then used IE to go to todoist and reacquire the outlook add-in, which is v 2.5.0.0.

I then opened multiple windows of Outlook and created test tasks to see that the error did not immediately come back.

In my environment, the error has not immediately returned, and I am under the impression that no other d/l is required, beyond the plug-in link on your main page.

Please confirm that 2.5.0.0 includes that "special" outlook link patch listed above, and dated 20130823.

Thank you.

Hello Jubael,

The most recent version 2.5.0.0, which is the one available on https://todoist.com/outlook fixes most issues incl. the critical bug causing drafts to be sent out. However, this version may cause links to tasks from emails be not accessible after moving the email.

It should not cause any crashes, though. Are you behind a corporate proxy server?

We're already working on another update which should address all these issues.

I'm at an office, but there's nothing proxied.

I've uninstalled the add-in, because Outlook is supplement to my needs, and having multiple windows open simultaneously is pretty much required to suit my needs.

If this is resolved in the next version, will you update this comment thread?

I'm intending on not using the outlook add-in until this bug is resolved.
