I tried changing my Google password and that didn't work.
If you head to Todoist.com and hit the gear icon at the top right corner, choose Settings. Under "Account" at the very bottom there should be a "Delete my Todoist Account" button.
In the same location is where you set your password, which is needed to be done to delete an account that was created with Google.
Please let me know if this is not the case.
I am having the same problem. I am trying to delete my account, and I have followed all of the above steps. However, it keeps telling me that my password is not correct so it doesn't let me delete my account. My password is the same as the password that I log in with correct? So how can it not be the right password?
If you have used the GMail Login method to set up your account, please go to https://todoist.com click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to enter Settings -> Account and here, you must first use "Edit" in the "Password" section to set a password for Todoist and then use the link at the bottom to delete your account confirming with the newly set password.
This still doesn't work. I changed the password, unlinked from Google successfully and when I click "Cancel my account" it says my session timed out every time. I try to log back in with the new password and it fails. I log back in with Google and find I'm reconnected. Tried changing the email and password and it looks like it works but times out (mysteriously just as soon i try to cancel again) and the log in fails again. Please cancel my account!
Please don't unlink your account from Google, only log in, go to Settings -> Account, use "Edit" to set a manual password for it, then use the "Delete my account" link and confirm with the newly set password.
After that don't try to log in with Google because then it will create another account for you again. Instead, try to log in manually by typing the Gmail address in combination with the new password and you'll see an error message that such account doesn't exist (email not found).
If it will log you in, please let us know what browser you're using and if it also happens in another browser.
