Hello Ulf,

Please tell me:
- What version of Windows are you using?
- Do you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed on your computer?
- How exactly does it crash? You open it and it crashes already, or when you try to log in? Do you see any error messages?

Best regards,
David

Ulf,

Thank you for this information, I have passed it to the developers.

For now, as a workaround, please try to install this earlier version of our Windows app: https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/2c5b1516105eca09eb663f9c8b8c742a/as/Todoist_for_Windows.exe

Same issue, when I try to add a task with Ctrl+
Alt+A the app says cant add task because you not logged in. But when I right click on the app it says that I am logged in.
When I try to logged out I cant, If I restarted the app it starts in logged in mode??

Ulf,

You should be able to log out and back into the app. Please clarify - are you logging out using the "logout" option through right-clicking on the TD icon in the notifications area (system tray) or from within the app?

Best regards,
David

Ulf,

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue under any circumstance. Please try one more version, it's an even earlier version than the one posted before: https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/2c5b1516105eca09eb663f9c8b8c742a/as/Todoist_for_Windows.exe

We have not been able to reproduce this issue in any of them.

Best regards,
David

I was experiencing a crash with the latest version of ToDoist on Windows 7 Professional as well, but retrograding to the earlier version solved the problem.

I am getting the same problem on two different computers - a work PC running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 and personal laptop running Ultimate SP1.

I have tried back to the RC version on the work computer with similar results.

I am an administrator on both and have verified Microsoft.NET and visual basic installations are up to date.

Thanks for the update - when is this likely to be available?

FYI the reason I was looking for the windows app was because the lag whenever the Chrome app opens drives me up the wall. My biggest suggestion for that and other similar versions are for them to be engineered to sync all the relevant data to the local drive. Does the windows app avoid this lag?

James,

All our apps, incl. even the web-version, all plugins and desktop apps utilize HTML5 local storage for super-fast performance.

There should be no lags in the Chrome app, please tell me:
- Which version of Chrome are you using?
- What's your default start page on Todoist?
- How many tasks do you have (approximately)?

Best regards,
David

Hi David

- Which version of Chrome are you using? 29.0.1547.76 m
- What's your default start page on Todoist? 'Info page'
- How many tasks do you have (approximately)? 52 completed and 23 on the go

My home connection is admittedly slow (satellite; ~5Mb down, 0.5 up with a .8 sec ping) and it usually takes 5-6 seconds for the task pane to load. My work connection is very fast (by Australian standards at least) but it still usually takes 2-3 seconds.

James,

When you say 5Mb are you referring to 5Mbps? That would be fairly slow connection, but even then that shouldn't cause an issue for this type of data.

Please try clearing the cache for Chrome for Todoist. Top right corner, 3 dots --> Settings --> Show Advanced Settings --> Content Settings --> All Cookies & Site Data --> Search for Todoist.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon

Yes I do mean 5Mbps (it actually varies from about 2-6MBps according to speedtest.net, depending on demand at the time. Yay for living in a 'rural' area that can't get ADSL!).

I'm at home at the moment. There were three todoist cookies, each about 600kb, and clearing them does seem to have sped up the load time to about 2-3 seconds. I know it's not much in the scheme of things but jotting down tasks is something that I often like to be able to do very quickly without interrupting a train of thought. I'm sure we're also becoming conditioned to expect instantaneous response from software so the load time just seems a bit clunky.

I will try clearing the cookies at work too next week.

I have to say that Todoist gets full marks for customer service though!

If you use Chrome install the Todoist extension so you can get instant access from the top right hand corner next to the address bar.

As long as Chrome is open you can add tasks very quickly and it saves opening the actual app.

Yeah that's what I do have. Often just takes a few seconds to load and I'm being impatient. Thanks for all the input though :-)
