Email as a task in Thunderbird does not reference the correct email....

If you use "Open messages in: An existing message window" Preferences->Advanced-> Reading & Display.

I tested this multiple times and, like many, I use TB in existing window because I do not want 100 open windows or tabs when I'm doing mail. Unfortunately, it appears that adding an email as a task is dependent upon the other options and, while I can add a task, it will always reference the last email from testing one of the other views. I would be incredibly grateful if you would fix this as I love your program and must continue to use "existing message window"

Hello Steve,

TO add an email as a task, you must highlight it on the list of your emails in your inbox. When you highlight it and use "Add email as task", the feature works correctly even while having the option you've mentioned selected.

However, I can confirm that when you click on such link, it will open in a new tab. please clarify if this is what you're experiencing or are you having other issues with adding emails as tasks as I can't reproduce the issue you've described regarding adding an email as a task being dependent upon other options (please specify how this issue occurs).

Hi David,

Sorry, that's not what I experience. I always have the item open and it's the only active email - it will not add the active email as a task even if I have the email open and highlight it in the inbox list. I can only achieve having the correct task added if I change the view from "existing window" to something else.

To clarify - you highlight an email, then click on "Add email as task" and this email is not being linked to?

Please note that it doesn't matter which or how many messages you have opened or whether they're in new tabs or windows, it only matters which email is highlighted on the list and the list must be active. In other words, to successfully add an email as task, you must follow these 2 steps:
- Highlight the message on your list (ion the inbox)
- Click "Add email as task" in Todoist
There can't be any other steps in between, if you highlight the message, but then open a window with a different message in it, Todoist will ignore any opened tabs and windows as it only waits for the action of clicking on a message in the inbox to highlight it and clicking on it only once, so the message doesn't even have to be opened.

Also, please tell me - do you have the latest version of our plugin, which is currently 4.0?

Hello David,

I found that if you add email as task in inbox A, todist will link and show up the email only if you are in inbox A again.

Consider a scenario, if you add many email task from different inbox (suppose i have many email accounts in TB), you have to choose the correct inbox from TB first in order to let the email to link and display which is obviously not very convinent.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for this information. I've been able to partially reproduce this issue, but not all the time. Often going to a different inbox would still show all mails added as tasks from other inboxes and sometimes no email could be opened at all.

We will certainly take a look at this issue as we update our Thunderbird plugin.
