Date format for reminders

CA

I want to get a reminder for a recurring task one week before the due date but I couldn't figure out the right format. "one week before" and "7 days before" both gave me an invalid date format message.

I could calculate the date manually but I have a bunch of these to do and when the due date is at the beginning of the month, it's not as simple as just subtracting 7.

Thanks

Hi Cyndy,

Unfortunately, a syntax like "1 week before" is not available at this time. You will have to enter the specific date to accomplish that.

Feel free to add your vote on this suggestion as it's very likely it will get added in the future. http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/989/

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hello Cyndy,

Just to clarify - are you using due times within tasks? If you do and the task is set to "10 June at 14:00", for example, you can then right-click on the task, choose "Relative time" as the reminder type and simply select "1 day before" or "7 days before" etc. from the "Date and Time" drop-down menu, but again - this works only if the task has a specific time set (not just date) as only this way we can know at what time we should send you this reminder relative to the time of the task.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I'm not using specific times, just dates, so I'll think about which is easier, adding a time to the date or doing the subtraction from the date.

Thanks to you and Brendon for the quick responses.
