My Todist Karma shows -3 points for tasks 4 days overdue, but I have no tasks due past yesterday

E

I updated/postponed all tasks last night so that they were current. Yet, my todist Karma updated 20 minutes ago, and dinged me 3 points for having tasks 4 days overdue. I do not have any tasks older than yesterday. Thanks for the help!

Hi Emily,

Please tell me - when you type "overdue" or "od" within the search box, do you see any tasks on the list? If not, please confirm and we'll investigate this issue on our end.

Also, did you have any tasks overdue by 4 days lately?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Bendon,

Yes - when i display my overdue tasks (by typing od and/or overdue in the search box) I do have a number of tasks that were all due yesterday.

I did have tasks overdue by 4 days as recently as 16 or so hours ago.

Thanks,

Emily

I Have a similar issue; -9 points for having tasks 4 days overdue (when I have none).

If I look at the Karma history, the most recent update (4 hours ago) says I had a task 4+ days overdue, so -9 points.

But then the update before that (also 4 hours ago) says I have no tasks overdue.

I think it's got stuck somehow as the one before that (12 hours ago) doesn't mention this task and the one previous to *that* (16 hours) has it showing up again...

Have typed in 'overdue' and nothing is showing up...

I have had the same issue the past 4 days where I have been docked -3 points for one task that is allegedly 4+ days overdue. When I query overdue tasks, no tasks appear to be that old. However, my daily digest email reveals a task that is 4+ days overdue. This particular task appears checked off and in grey text when I chose "Show Completed Tasks." Can this issue be fixed? If so, how? Also, how do I prevent this issue from happening?

Thanks, Alex

Hello Alex,

Please tell me:
- Have you every used any mobile Todoist apps, especially third-party apps?
- Log out and back in on all devices you use Todoist on and let me know if the issue persists.
- Try to un-complete and then complete this task again (you can do this either by finding it via search or entering the project in which it was completed and viewing the completed task list from there using the icon in the bottom-right corner) and see if this helps.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

The issue seems to have repaired itself, but to answer your questions for future incidents...

1. I do not use mobile apps—only Safari.
2. I tried un-completing and completing the task again a few days ago and the problem persisted. I tried it again yesterday and the issue was repaired. Not sure why it didn't work the first time.

Thanks for your help.

Alex

Got the same here, -3 every day for 4 overdue tasks (which are not existing). Using Android and iPad, but 99% web.

Hello André,

We've made some changes, please let me know if this happens again and if it does - does reinstalling the Android and iPad app help?

I have been experiencing the same problem. Bleeding karma even when there are no tasks 4 days in od. I have just tried reinstalling the android app to see if it helps. I use web, chrome extension, and android.

Could it possibly relate to a repeating task that was overdue, then postponed, meaning that the original instance of that repeating task was never completed (and continues to count as overdue somehow?)

This is a very fun feature and I have been surprised how exceptionally motivating it is! Having the karma decrease has been making it difficult to keep up. Looking forward to a fix. :)

For the record... In the past when I had this issue, it was not a repeating task. Sometimes it seems their server and what we see on the website sometimes get out of sync.

Sorry to tag on this long-winded post but I also have this issue. The email says 4 tasks overdue but they were all completed or postponed. I use IOS on my ipad (Safari) and phone (app) and occasionally web as well. When postponing one of the tasks it persisted and wouldn't change.

Hi Jennifer,

There were a few variations on issues on this thread, so you have your morning email saying you have 4 tasks overdue? If you search Todoist for these tasks, do you find them, and are they overdue, or completed or?

And you say it persisted, so you marked it as complete or postponed it and it wouldn't change?

Thanks,
Brendon.

I have the same problem. I use Todoist on a Windows 8 machine running Chrome, an Android tablet, and an iPhone 5. I don't show any overdue tasks on any device, but get a daily email showing I have 3-4 tasks overdue. I've searched for "overdue" tasks and get zero results.

I seem to still be having this same problem. I no longer have any overdue tasks (I checked every single one of my tasks, all are due in the future or have no due date). I also have no repeating tasks, and thusfar have used only the web-browser version of Todoist.

As one who has had this problem on a couple occasions, I have a suspicion about the source of the problem—perhaps a developer could verify this:

I think this problem happens when the web interface and todoist server are out of sync. We (as users) may have caused this in a few different ways. For example:

- performing multiple actions on the same task while in offline mode (e.g., add AND check off, add AND move, move AND check off, etc.).
- checking off a task immediately after adding the task—I often do this to log tasks that were not originally on my task list so I can verify it's done if I forget—or to help my karma ;-).

Basically, doing multiple things either too quickly or in offline mode (before the interface and server have had a chance to sync) may cause completed tasks to not show up as complete on the server even though they do on the web interface.

This could be totally wrong though! If a developer knows the actual source, please do share it and what we (as users) can do to avoid it!

If the problem is still unknown, it might help to todoist developers investigate and solve this problem if we all reported the offending task. You will find the task in your Daily Digest emails—just go to "settings" and enable this feature. These emails must come from the server—not the interface—because the overdue task shows up there and not online.

Hope this is helpful!

Alex has some useful insights. I'll add a note that on my next update, I had no more overdue tasks (despite not completing any tasks in that time period). This may reflect Alex's story about time differences in syncing. Since I'm only using the web-browser this problem must not be limited to offline mode.

Thanks for the note, Ben!

I am curious if a later update will still show the overdue task. I have noticed that, even when I have legitimate overdue tasks, I am not docked karma on *every* update—usually only once or twice a day (I haven't figured out the rhyme or reason for the frequency!).

I'm still having this problem. This morning I showed a -9 for having tasks that are more than 4 days overdue, but I show no overdue tasks. I really enjoy using this program, but it is getting frustrating.

I wanted to add one more piece of data to the equation... my daily email showed no overdue tasks, but my "Karma" calculation deducted 9 points for having tasks overdue by more than 4 days.
