v115 query doesn't appear to return results in Completed tasks

RM

Just tried using the new query in v115 and I was not able to retrieve results for the query in Completed Tasks, even when selecting "Search after completed tasks ..."

Tried multiple queries, all of which should have returned results in Completed Tasks; all *did* return results in 'pending' Tasks.

Using v115 web app on Chrome Version 27.0.1453.93 m

Hello Randy,

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue. Please try to log out, go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, remove todoist.com from the list, reload the browser and retry.

If the issue persists, please tell me:
- What is the exact text you're searching for?
- Are you typing it in directly or do you still use the (no longer necessary) q: syntax?
- Can you reproduce it in a different browser?

Best regards,
David

David,

I've searched for "mike", "baldes", "hudson" and "brighton".

I'm typing the search terms directly into the search box, without the "q:".

I've removed todoist.com from the Chrome list and the issue persists.

I can replicate the issue in IE8; an error is thrown in IE8 (which I'll post separately).

Randy,

Please tell me - were these tasks added recently (within 24 hours)? Unfortunately, I can't reproduce any issues related to the search except for the uppercase and lowercase label issue. Are the words/names you've searched for listed with any uppercase characters within the task's name (I've just tried this too and it works fine regardless of it for text search)?

David

David,

No, tasks containing these terms have been part of my task list dating back some months. I have added tasks containing these terms within the past twenty-four hours, but tasks containing the terms existed previously.

Yes, all search terms would have been capitalized within the tasks, but I only searched using lowercase. Again, matches *were* found in tasks that have not yet been completed, but *not* in tasks that have been completed (not found in Task History).

David,

I've performed a 'deeper dive' into this issue and, unfortunately, and more confused than ever.

I've found that words capitalized in the Task name are not found when searching for term (both Chrome and IE); lowercase terms are found.

However, lowercase terms are not *always* found. I showed my history for the past two weeks, so I know that the words exist in the Task, yet some words cannot be found in Completed Tasks.

Also, how can one search for the term 'labels', which ends up on my task list frequently (because I'm responsible for manually printing Customer Labels when the automated systems fail)?

Randy,

I've been able to reproduce this issue now. The new search functionality works locally which greatly increases the performance, however completed tasks are still fetched from the server and most likely the indexes are incorrect, we'll rebuild them soon.

Reg. the term labels - please use q: labels. We've mentioned in the documentation: https://todoist.com/Help/timeQuery that you can still use q: to force a text search, this is exactly for these situations so with q: at the front, the word "labels" will be considered as a keyword for task names.

David,

Thanks for prompt response, *AND* the reminder about using "q: " for the query! Works like a charm!

David,

Any idea of when the indexes might be rebuilt on the server? I still receive no results to queries on Completed Tasks.

Randy,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, it may take some time for everything to be re-indexed, I will inform you as soon as it's done.

Hi Randolph,

It should be up and operational once again :)

Thanks,
Brendon.

Brendon,

From "it may take some time" to "up and running" ... do you guys time travel, or what? :)

Thanks for the notification; I can confirm that search terms are now found locally and in Completed Tasks.

Todoist is *awesome*!

I know it's hard to hear the cacophony of complaints when things 'go sideways' like they did during the day yesterday, but I think its just because that this is such a great program that people feel lost without it (I know I do!) ...

Again, thanks for the great response time!
