Printing

J

From the Todoist for Windows, when I go to settings and print current page, this takes me to the Todist web site and I can not print the page of to dos.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Todist but the problem still exists.
Can you help solve this please ?

Regards
John

Hi John,

What browser are you using? Do you have any special printer software installed?

I can't seem to re-produce this issue. Clicking Print Page opens up my Chrome, which is also how I print pages, and loads up the page to be printed.

What exactly happens when you click print current page? Does anything open, any messages?

Thanks,
Brendon.

@John:

It's working for me at the moment, I click Setting > Print Current page. This causes Chrome to open with the list of tasks I was viewing. A pop-up asks if I want to include notes, I can choose OK or Cancel. After either choice, my standard print dialog pops up and I can slick "Print" to finish.

Thanks for your replies Ken & Brendon,
Reading your replies may me wonder about whether there was an add-in that I should have installed in Firefox.

So after installing this, it is now working as you described. Prior to this it would simply open the Todoist web site.

Thanks for your help

John

Brendon,

It seems that printing notes with tasks only works in Chrome for me. However, I am also realizing that the option to print notes with tasks only comes up when I'm either printing from the "Today" query or any query I type into the query box. However, if I wanted to print the task list under a project, it won't give me the option to print the notes. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

James

Hello James,

Printing notes is available on all browsers, but there's currently a glitch making it not work in some browsers. We're working on a fix right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

Hello:

Printing "To Do" list looks fine on the screen, but it prints out in gibberish.

Thanks, R

Hi Ramona,

What browser are you using? When you try using a different browser, do you get the same problem?

Hi Ramona,

When you print other webpages, is it printed correctly? How do you print your pages?

1.) Do you use CTRL + 'P'
2.) Or do you use the "Print current page" in the gear located in the upper right corner of the page

Can you please confirm if both options produces the same gibberish printouts?

Regards,

Clyde

Hi Clyde,

I used both with the same results: gibberish on the LIST/left side and plain English on the PROJECT/right side.

Thanks, R

Ramona,

Please let us know which extensions you have installed for Chrome, as this was the cause for another user. Also, if you can try in another browser it would help determine if it's with Chrome or bigger.

Brendon.

Hello,

I have the same problem as Ramona. I also use Google Chrome, and all printed lists look like gibberish when they emerge from the printer. When I "print" the list as a PDF, it works just fine. But that's a time-consuming hassle; it would need to be speedy and efficient to do. The Todoist lists are btw the only things that look like gibberish when I print them on my Samsung laser printer.

Also, I would greatly appreciate being able to print the to-do-lists directly, without having to open the programme in my web browser. All such things increase the convenience of the programme.

Ulrika

Hi Ulrika,

Can you please try printing using in the Incognito Mode? (CTRL + SHIFT + N) In this mode, most if not all chrome extensions are disabled. This way, we can figure out if there's a particular Chrome extension that's messing the printout output. Regardless of the result, can you please let me know so I can report it to our developers?

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Best Regards,

Clyde

Hi Clyde,

Thanks for your prompt reply! That did help. In fact, I can now print the lists also without incognito mode.

However, the problems keeps occuring when I try to use the "two-in-one" printing option via the system dialogue window (Windows 7), i.e. to print two pages on one sheet of paper. That happens also in the incognito mode, and - I have only just seen this - also happens when I try that option on regular websites. However, if I select a chunk of text and those same options, the printout is normal. If I then print the first two pages of that same web page without selecting anything - a mix of normal text and gibberish comes out.

If I actually select the Todoist list on the webpage that appears when I want to print from Todoist, and chose the selected bit only with the 2-in-1 option, normal text comes out...

Perhaps this was too confusing... :)

In any case, I guess it is more of a Chrome vs Printer problem than to have anything to do with Todoist specifically?

Anyway, at least I can print them out now - thank you.

Best regards,
Ulrika

PS Would still be great to be able to print the lists without going via the browser. :)

Hi all,

Too many events to deal with this problem,
Tried the CTRL + SHIFT + N, still get gibberish and normal print in Chrome same as before.

Thanks, R

Hi Ramona,

Can you please try using a different browser? Try using Firefox and see if you get the same problem. Unfortunately, we can't still replicate the issue.

If it helps to have a sample of the gibberish, I have attached a copy.

Hello Brendon.
In the interim I have a a work-around.
To answer your question - the problem applies to all reports, not just Inbox.
Here is a test I did for you :
PS using Chrome and Win7.

a) On screen, all reports are fine.
b) Using a hard-copy printer = gibberish
c) Using my usual PDF printer called "Cute PDF Writer" = gibberish
BUT
d) using another PDF printer on my PC (not sure of source) the PDF prints fine. And this is my interim work-around.
I use Firefox Reader to open the PDF's

Hi Ramona,

We can't still replicate the problem. :-( Do you have access to a different computer that you can use really quickly to test if printing is working fine? It's a long shot but it could be an account related issue. The thing is it's not happening for everybody. So it could also be something specific with you computer setup.

Do you mind attaching a picture of the example print output?

Clyde

Hello Brendon.
following on from my note above (2.43) I have tried using Firefox.
All printing of all reports seems fine, to both "Cute PDF Writer" and to a hard-copy printer.
So the anomaly might be to do with some incompatibility with Chrome ???

Paul,

Yes, in that case it appears it very likely an issue with Chrome, either the Chrome version or an extension that is installed for it. I know you tried incognito, but as I try reproducing again, prints without issue.

Brendon.

Hello Brendon,
I tried incognito again, and it printed OK.
So there are now 2 workarounds I can use.
Thanks
