Syncing is not very good (app, web, widgets)

OF

I use TDist on Android and on the web.

I noticed that if I add a task in the app it doesn't show up in the Android widget right away (which is confusing "did I actually add that?").

Also, It doesn't show up on the web panel weither. I have to manually refresh the page for the new task to show up.

Same if I complete the task from the widget. I have to manually refresh the web page.

It seems to me that should update periodically in the background.

Thanks.

Hello Oliver,

If you've opened the Todoist app on your phone since you've activated the phone and it's running in the background, all changes on your task list should be updates on the widget.

We will consider adding a way to force-reload the web-app upon making changes on other platforms in the future.

Best regards,
David

Thanks for the reply.

Sadly that is not my experience. The widget doesn't update even if I add a task using the widget's very own task-add function!

Oliver,

Please tell me - you open the Todoist app on Android, the you go back to the home screen with the widget, add a task through the web and don't see it in the widget (assuming the task meets the criteria of the view selected in the widget, that is - if the view is "today", the task is due today)?

If that's the case, please tell me:
- What version of our app are you using?
- What version of Android are you using?
- Are you online when you add the task on the web and is your phone/tablet online as well?

Best regards,
David

That worked, though it took several minutes to show up on the widget that's ok.

There is still the issue that if I add via the "+" on the widget, it doesn't show up in the widget right away. That just seems like a flaw. And it's confusing for the user.

And it really seems like the web client should update in the background.

I am sure I am not the only person who keeps TD open all the time on my desktop browser, and I leave and come back to it throughout the day, adding tasks via phone, checking them off on the desktop, etc... It seems the syncing should be better than what it is given the nature of your app.

Thanks anyways.

Olivier,

We will consider implementing a way to force-update the app across platforms in the future.

As for the issue with adding tasks through the widget - I can't reproduce it. The task shows up within less than a second after adding it. Please clarify - does this happen before you've opened the main app after you've started the phone or even afterwards? Also, how many tasks do you have (approximately) and what's the default view on your widget?

Best regards,
David

Hi David, I couldn't reproduce it either this morning. I may have been adding tasks to "tomorrow" while my widget shows only "today" and "overdue". So yeah, user error on that one. Sorry.

Thanks.

"It seems the syncing should be better than what it is given the nature of your app." - pure truth has been said!!!

Background synchronization doesn't work. To make changes appear I have to launch application and wait for sync. Until I open the app it doesn't sync in the background even if the app is active as a background app in my Iphone.

That is a great misfortune! As a premium user I want my background synchronization!!!

Hello Denis,

We will soon publish our new iOS app which addresses all issues with the current version. Sorry for the inconvenience.

David
