Outlook 2010 Pluggin Error: Generic Failure Occurred
My plugin just stopped working. I mean it was working just fine since last few days and now it flashes "Generic Failure Occurred". It is a major problem!!! I am so much dependent on the outlook plugin.... Please help me fix it.
I have Outlook 2010 - 14.0.4760.1000 (32 bit) version.
I have done the following suggested in some of your posts
1) I uninstalled / reinstalled the plugin
2) I uninstalled - rebooted system - ran a Office repair - again rebooted system and installed "outlook.RC" version that you have stated.
None worked. Help me
Please go to your system's Control Panel -> Programs and Features, uninstall "OutlookTodoist" and then install this version: https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/23ba6af99340be5655be8317812129dd/as/OutlookTodoist.Adx.RC.exe - this is the latest version available.
If it won't work, please tell me - did you install any other software or plugins at the time it stopped working or made any changes in your network configuration (started using a proxy, a firewall etc.)?

I had done that already based on earlier posts :)
The problem resolved when I installed the Adx.RC.exe version. THe new version looks good, i must say.
How do I toggle between "Offline" / "Online"?
also any suggestion if i want to include this as part of my firewall i.e. I should be able to access through then the firewall is up. What can i include as "exempt" in the firewall setting?
There is no option to go into offline mode deliberately and we recommend to stay offline all the time, if possible. If you lose the connection while using out plugin, you can continue using it, though.
In your firewall settings, you can allow todoist.com and cloudfront.net to connect, but our plugin uses IE to connect so this shouldn't be a problem.
To understand what you said, If I lose the internet connection while working the Outlook plugin will continue to operate.
And as and when I get my connection it will reconcile with the cloud, right?
I cannot stay offline all the time. since I keep moving about in the company and therefore access the list from iPhone as well, hence i need to stay sync. But while traveling there are cases where I work without internet connect and hence am more dependent on the Outlook plugin.
Right now as I see if i switch off my connection and then start outlook, the todoist gives error and does not display the list. How can i prevent that.
Unfortunately, when you open the plugin or Outlook, it requires an internet connection. If it's already opened and you're logged in, then you can disconnect and you'll see a small red triangle in the top-right corner indicating that it's in offline mode and can click on this icon to force a sync as you connect.

BTW I see that the todoist window opens with the window that opens to
1) Read a mail
2) Start a new mail
3) forward a mail
How can i turn off this feature.? I mean love to have todoist as part of outlook but not in every window i open through outlook.
The appearance of the Todoist frame within the window of a mail is a bug. It's not possible to turn it off, but it will be addressed very soon with the final release version. Sorry for the inconvenience.
