How do I create nested tasks when Ctrl+RightArrow doesn't work?

SN

I need to figure out how to nest tasks, either when I create the task or after it is already created. The Ctrl+RightArrow is supposed to indent and nest a task, but it doesn't work for me.

I have tried on a laptop and a desktop, on Chrome and Internet Explorer. This is one of the key features for which I bought ToDoist, so please help.

Hello Sundar,

To indent tasks, you can either use Ctrl+RightArrow or the arrow keys on the right side of the task or project input field.

However, please note that to use this feature, you must add the task from within a project. It's not possible to indent tasks on the today, 7 days view or label search results - only if you're viewing the task list of a certain project.

Best regards,
David

Thanks for the rapid response. I am able to do that in a project.

Most of the time, I am in today or 7 days view. Why don't you allow nesting in those views?

Sundar,

We don't allow nesting in these views because tasks in these views are not displayed based on their structure, but based on other properties.

So, for example, on the "today" list, you can have 1 task from project A, below a task from project B and then a task from project C - all are due today, but when you would indent task from project C, it would not mean that it would become a sub-task of the task above as it's a task from a completely different project so it would get intended under some completely different tasks within its project which you wouldn't see on this list. This would make intending very confusing and it would be impossible to tell what task would become the parent task within the project the task originates from.

David
