task in project view ordered by date as a default

Can the project view be set to ordering tasks by date as a default? Each time I view a project I have to re-order the tasks by choosing the by date option. I would prefer to have this as a default setting.

Hi Will,

Each project can be set as a different view. If you set "Project 1" to "Sort By Date" it should remember that setting for the next time. If you go to "Project 2" this will be different unless you set it there as well.

Please confirm this happens for you, and if not, which app/plugin of ours are you using?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Will,

You should be able to use Ctrl + F5 to resort your Project after entering tasks. Projects will not automatically sort (either by Task Due Date, Task Name or Task Priority) upon entering a new task.

If you've set a 'sort by' for your Project and your Project doesn't resort properly after pressing Ctrl-F5, please post again stating what product you're using (Windows app; Mac app; web app; and version).

Best regards,
Randy Miller

Each time I return to a project list of tasks after adding tasks they loose their order and I have to choose again to order by date from settings. I am using the web application on windows 8.

Hi,

Please clarify which browser are you using?
Are you using any extensions with it?

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi,

Please try clearing the cache from the browser.

Open Internet Explorer 10. On the very right-hand side of the browser, click on the gear icon, also called the Tools icon, followed by Safety, and finally Delete browsing history...

Note: If you have the Menu bar enabled, you can instead click Tools and then Delete browsing history....

In the Delete Browsing History window that appears, uncheck all options except the one labeled Temporary Internet files and website files. Click the Delete button. The Delete Browsing History window will disappear, and you may notice your mouse icon go busy for a few moments.

Also, please log-out and log back in again.

Please let me know if this fixes your issue.

Thanks,
Brendon.

I have the same problem on Chrome on Win XP (yes, XP). If I sort by date and add a new task for today in a project it will end up at the bottom of the stack even if I reload the page or switch to another project and then back again. It would be nice if sorting was persistent and new tasks appeared sorted instead of at the bottom.

Joakim,

Please note - if you use the "Sort by date" option it will not turn sorting on or off, but it will resort all existing tasks one. If you add new tasks, please use the "s" key to quickly resort them again.

We may consider adding a persistent sorting option in the future and you're welcome to vote for this request in our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/406/
