Unable to recover accidentally 'completed' old tasks

GS

I accidentally marked some (abut 10) tasks as completed, and didn't realize it in time, so missed the opportunity to "Undo' the operation.

These tasks were very old, like 900+ days old.

No matter which interface I try now, I just can't see those completed tasks anymore. The 'View all Completed' link from the 'Karma' bulb shows tasks only upto 434 days old completed tasks.

I want to get those accidentally deleted tasks back, because I don't remember what those tasks were, so I can't add them back again manually.

I was using the Firefox sidebar interface, when I marked those tasks completed; if that matters.

Hello Gurjeet,

Regardless of the due date of the task (even if it was overdue by years), completing it must show the completion event under "today" on the list of completed task (when clicking on the Karma number).

However, to find the tasks in order to un-complete them, please enter the project in which they were completed and click on the "Get completed tasks" list at the bottom. You may need to click it multiple times to load the full list.

These are the only places where you can find any completed task. If they're not there then please tell me - are you certain that you've checked them off and not used the "Delete" option. If you've seen the "Undo" option at the top, then you might have deleted these tasks as checking a task off never shows an undo option.

Also, if these tasks were recurring then completing them has not removed them from the list, but only moved their due date to the next occurrence.

Best regards,
David

Thanks! I found the items at the top of the list, just as you said. I was expecting them to be towards the end of the list, because they were so old.

Thanks again.

What do you do when you have erroneously moved their due date?

Hi Holly,

When you change the date of a task it should still be visible in the project you had it. Changing the due date does not change the Project which the task is in, nor does it move it to completed/deleted tasks.

Please search for the tasks name and you should be able to find it.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Wanted to thank David Trey for the un-complete task information above. Very helpful to me having completed something erroneously.

I accidentally completed a task with several indented items under it by swiping on my Android phone. After undoing, only the top-level task was recovered and the 6 indented tasks remain completed. I logged into the web app but can only view them as 'show completed items.' How do I un-complete them? There are no [obvious] options to edit them.

Ok, did some more searching in this support area and got a solution. The parent task and its sub-tasks were all completed then I un-completed the parent task with undo which left the sub-tasks completed. I then completed the parent task again which caused them to all show as a completed group: parent + sub-tasks. When I unchecked the parent task in the completed tasks list (i.e., un-completing it), the sub-tasks were all recovered from the completed tasks list as well. Some were recurring sub-tasks and still show completed with the next day shown which is as expected. I bit confusing, but still usable.

How do you create a filter for completed task?

Hello Michael,

Unfortunately, it's not possible to use the search box to look for completed tasks. That is - you can't search for the word "completed" to find them, but if you search for any word that's supposed to be in a completed task's name then you can look for it and then click on the "Show completed" link at the bottom of the search result page.

Best regards,
David
