Outlook Todoist Won't Load

Good Day

I've managed to install Outlook Todoist but when I launch Outlook, it doesn't load.

I go to File > Options > Add-Ins and I see it listed under Inactive Application Add-Ins so I click the Go... button for Manage COM Add-ins. Even after checking Outlook Todoist and reloading Outlook, it still does not load. I also tried restarting the computer but that did not help.

I'm not sure what is the issue but I did noticed that under Location for Outlook Todoist, it is listed as file:///C:\Program Files (x86)\Outlook Todoist/OutlookTodoist.vsto|vstolocal while all the other add-ins don't have the file:/// before their locations.

There is no error message so I'm not sure what else I should do.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hello Tariq,

The file:/// path is correct. Please try to uninstall the plugin through the Control Panel -> Programs and Features (it will be listed as "OutlookTodoist"), then download the latest version from this location: https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/354a36dcf40f6dd891fafdb6d2b97716/as/OutlookTodoist.exe right-click on it -> "Run As Administrator" and if in this version the issue persists and the plugin asks you to send an error report to us, please agree.

If it doesn't ask you to send an error report, please send the logs our plugin created to david@doist.io You can find them either in:

C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Local\Todoist

or

My Documents\TodoistData\

Best regards,
David

Good Day

The link provided is actually the same version of the application that I have installed but I went ahead and followed your instructions.

Even after installing the application you linked to, it is still not loading. Like previously, there was no error message and I did not see any logs in the 2 folders you mentioned above. In fact, I did see a Todoist folder in Local nor did I see a TodoistData in My Documents. I even tried searching other User Name folders in Users but did not see a Todoist folder.

One thing I noticed when I tried to manually load the plug in in Outlook is that the Load Behavior now says "Not loaded. A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in."

Hopefully this helps. Let me know if there is anything else that you need from me.

Tariq,

Thank you for this information. Please tell me - did you install Todoist on the C: drive or a different partition? Please try to search for *todoist on all your drives on your system and let us know if you find the logs.

David

Tariq,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but for now there doesn't seem do be any known solution to this issue. We're working on it all the time and hope to find a solution very soon.

In the meantime, please tell me - are you using the 32-bit version of Outlook or the 64-bit version?

Best regards,
David

Hi David

Wanted to follow up on this (it's on my list of things to get done :)).

Do you know what is causing the issue and if there are any fixes I could test?

Tariq,

Our current Outlook plugin does not work on the 64-bit of Outlook. We're looking for a better solution than Awesomium, which we now use to connect to Todoist (but it's a 32-bit library) and we'll soon release an update which should make it work also on 64-bit Outlook. Sorry for the inconvenience.

David

Tariq,

We're glad it works for your now, we'll make some further improvements and will release this version very soon.

Although we're currently not working on a native Windows 8 app, it is on our to-do list and will be available eventually. You're welcome to add your vote for this request in our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/558/

Tariq,

Thank you for this information, I'll pass it to the developers. Please tell me - when exactly did this issue occur? When you've opened Outlook, added a task etc.? What triggered it and can you reproduce it?

Best regards,
David

Hi David

Outlook had been opened for several hours and I was interacting with my emails. I don't recall interacting with the Todoist panel when this issue happened. My computer was really slow at that time and I did a restart.

I've not been able to reproduce it but will keep an eye out.

Hi David,

I've just installed the Outlook plugin, and have been having some issues getting it working like some other people here.

I've got it working now; here's some info for you:

Windows 7 64bit
Office 2010 64bit
Antivirus: Symantec 12

I could not get the plugin to enable, until I disabled Symantec. Once I disabled Symantec, I installed the plugin (using the installer you posted on Apr 22, 06.48). I then re-enabled Symantec, and everything is working.

Symantec logs (for when I installed with it enabled) say this:
Filename: outlooktodoistadx.dll
Action: Restart required - cleaned
Risk Type: Virus
Risk: Manually generated anomaly
Status: Cleaned
Primary Action: Restart required - clean security risk
Logged by: Auto-protect scan
Description: Restart required - the file was repaired successfully.

<sarcasm>Thanks Symantec</sarcasm>

Hello David,

Please try to install this version of our plugin: https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/23ba6af99340be5655be8317812129dd/as/OutlookTodoist.Adx.RC.exe and see if it works even with Symantec enabled.
