Outlook iCalendar sync warnings

AM

I just added the URL to the iCalendar to my Outlook 2010 account, and I noticed in the Send/Receive Progress dialog that many warnings are generated for my tasks.

The warnings take the form of:
Task 'Internet Calendar Subscriptions' reported error (0x00040038): The VEVENT, '<TodoistTask>', defined near line <n>, lacks a UID even though it is required by the iCalendar specification. Double-click to open this item.

Everything kinda seems to work, although I haven't tried moving a task around and synchronizing it, yet.

Question: Do I need to worry? Should I wait for these warnings to go away before using this feature, to prevent data loss?

Hello Alan,

Please don't worry about these warning, there are some differences in various options of the iCal standard and Outlook may expect a different format for some tasks and notifies you about it, but rest assured - this will not cause any issue especially not data loss (the iCal feed is one-way only so it doesn't send any information to Todoist).

Best regards,
David

Ah. Thanks. I guess I didn't notice the one-way aspect, so I shouldn't try to use Outlook to manage the dates for tasks. Good to know.

Alan,

You can use it as a reference to have your tasks shown on your calendar, but we will soon implement our own calendar view into Todoist which will be more interactive.

Best regards,
David
