Sync Issues

SC

Hello, I'm using ToDoist on Chrome (via extension) and things have been going relatively well. Last night, I finished working and moved any remaining tasks to today and then shut my computer down. This morning, everything was exactly as it was last night.

However, I also work during the day on a second computer in the office and I am finding on this computer that all of the tasks I had updated last night to be due today and showing as past due from yesterday. I have logged out of both accounts and restarted both computers and it is still happening.

Any idea what is happening with this? (FYI, all the notes I entered from yesterday on the other computer are still there and I even found on task that I had marked completed still showing as due for yesterday.

I also ran C Cleaner to get rid of all the cookies and stuff that it normally does and it is still showing me the wrong info. Just FYI.

Hello Scott,

Please go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data and remove todoist.com from this list. This will delete not only Todoist's cookies, but also offline app data which normally isn't cleared through automatic cache cleaning.

If this won't help, please tell me:
- Were you online as you've made these changes?
- If you've closed the browser immediately, before the changes have been synced, did you open the extension the next day to resync everything?
- At what time of day or night exactly did you move your tasks to today and how did you do it (drag & drop, multi-select and postpone, multi-select and "Do it Today")?

Best regards,
David

Not only did it not work, but now the computer where everything was currently working (showing all of the tasks due today) has reverted to match the other computer where I was having all of the issues.

To answer your questions,

Yes, the computer is always online.
No, I did not close the browser immediately - maybe 5 to 10 minutes later.
It was around 5:30 pm last night before I left for the evening.

Is there any way to get back the stuff I've done today or is that now gone?

Scott,

Please tell me - did you at any time see an orange triangular icon in the top-right corner suggesting that the app is in offline mode? If so - did you click on it to force a sync?

Best regards,
David

I did not see the triangles at all. Instead, when I came up to the PC that was correct I saw "???". I clicked on that and it had me login again. As soon as I logged in, the info was reset to all of the tasks being due yesterday instead of today.

I had taken a snapshot of the tasks when this issue was first happening so I've gone back and tried to recreate the tasks that went missing (though I've probably lost a few notes). When I make a change on one computer and walk back to check the other, the change is already there so I guess everything is working again. However, I still wish I knew what caused this because I don't want to risk doing something that causes important info to go missing.

Scott,

Unfortunately, we're unsure what might have caused this issue. It is technically impossible for our app to discard any changes during syncing and the only way to lose some changes would be clearing the cache before they have been synchronized. Even if you would make changes offline, next time you perform a sync, they should all appear (read from the cache).

Please tell me - was Todoist opened for a long time without any activity in you browser?

If this issue would occurs again, please make sure that there is no triangle in the top-right corner and try to use the reload button at the bottom to resync all changes.

Best regards,
David
