I was previously running Todoist between a Win7 PC and iPhone4 synching withn relatively few problems.
However I now have Android app on Samsung, iPhone app on Ipad mini and neither one synchs with the other or the browser version.
Any pointers or solution much appreciated as it is a great service..
Please tell me:
- Are you logging into the correct Todoist account on all platforms?
- Did you try to perform a manual sync (automatic syncing is a Premium-only feature)?
- What syncing issues do you experience exactly? Does none of your tasks appear on mobile or no new changes? Also, when you add a new task via mobile, synchronize the mobile app and reload the page on the web, do you see it on the web?
Thanks for fast reply, checked am using same account. Haven't tried manual synch but happy to look at premium as it has other useful features and I use the product a lot...
In terms of specific synch issues..
- I delete or complete as task on android app or ipad (running as iphone app on ipad) the task remains on web version.
- Tasks added to android app are not added to ipad or web versions
- edits to tasks on android or ipad are not reflected to each other or web version.
Guess there could be issues running an iphone app on an ipad mini but would be great if I could get in synching across all devices, seems fair that perhaps this should be a premium feature and personally happy to pay reasonable price to be able to get this..

If you haven't synced it manually then this has indeed caused the lack of transferring the data as manual syncing is indeed required on free accounts.
There shouldn't be any issues running our iPhone app on an iPad, but we will soon release a native iPad app.
Upgraded the account...how to manual synch ? cant see any setting on the webpage on my laptop, pressed the 'circular arrow button on my ipad app, ditto with android (after having signed out each and logged in again) but still same status ?
Oops...ok just tried again and it worked although it seems to have taken the web version as the master copy which was actually the most out of date so I will have warp my brain and try and redo all the changes from the last week....
The Android app should have not retrieve any changes you've made on it. Our system always accepts any change based on its timestamp, but I will pass this information to the developers as it's possible that the reason for this was the fact that you haven't performed the initial manual sync at all.
OK after going thru it seems only a few items missed so happy to have it all synching now, thats the main thing.
The timestamp does seem key - part of the reason it initially looked like some tasks were missing seems to be because on web and mobile versions the tasks don't always display sorted by priority...1,2,3,4...for ex I now I have a bunch of pri 1's, followed by a couple of 2's then a 1, I guess this could be related to the timestamp issue...tricky as I do travel between time zones, but even when staying within say +-1 hour the priority sorting still comes out like this, so that would be my parting feedback for the developers to look into, the rest is sorted, thanks for your prompt assistance.
Please clarify - do the priority issues occur on the web-app, the Android app or both> Also, are you referring to tasks that don't have a due time (time is the primary sorting option)?
I have the same problem:
Web: taks x + due date wednesday (which is the right date)
Iphone: taks x + due date today
desktop: task x + due date today
outlook pluging: task x + due date today

Please tell me - do you have the exact same time zone set on your phone as in Todoist's Settings (and your desktop computer)?
Yes. But I don't know if that's the issue. Because there were different days (today and wednesday).
I think the problem is the outlook plugin and synchronizing?!
What is syncing what? Is the web application leading?
There is no lead in the synchronization. Every event (adding task, completing it, reordering etc.) has a unique timestamp and this timestamp if being used to determine what happened first and what next to follow the timeline of events.
There is an issue that may change the date of a task - it's when you complete, edit or in any way change a task while being in a different timezone and not adjusting the Todoist timezone Settings. Did you travel to a different timezone lately?
To clarify on the sorting issue this applies to all tasks with due date:
1. the priority issues occur same on the web-app, iphone app & the Android app.
2. If I create three new test tasks at same time (via web or mobile) with different groups, but pri 1,2,3 etc. they sort correctly on both web and mobile.
3. But if I create tasks at different times, or change dates for tasks previously created they no longer sort by priority.
4. Adding due times to due date moves the task to the top of that days list regardless of its priority.
I guess therefore its the timestamps...what would be great is if users could set their time zone in Todoist, whether static or changes according to travel, then tasks sort by day then priority. Otherwise very hard to follow if you have more than a few tasks in one day as the priority becomes unclear.
If a task has a due time, for example "today @ 13:20", such task will always be listed at the top of the "today" or "7 days" list as due time is the primary sorting option, after that comes priority.
Regarding time zones - we will soon add an option to our mobile apps that will automatically detect your time zone and if it's different than the one you use in your settings - it will ask you if you want to change it (with one click).
