Not able to login after upgrading to the premium account

G

Yesterday I upgraded to premium. At home I am able to login. At the office I receive a message:

HTTPs (the encrypted version) of Todoist is only avaible for premium users

I did log out first, emptied the cache at both browsers, (IE and Firefox), but I still get the message. What could be wrong?

Thanks
Gerco

Hello Gerco,

Please make sure that you log in to the same Todoist account both at home and at work (through your me.com address).

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I indeed use one and the same account. Yesterday (using the free version) I had no problem at all at bot my work and my home computer.

Interestingly, the iphone app (which confirms the premium status with the same account), was syncing continuously and after loggin out, it is giving me a time out error. The network is ok, browsing goes fine.

Gerco,

According to our database, I can confirm that the account you're logged in right now is Premium and therefore HTTPS is enabled on it and this error message cannot show on this account unless it reads an older version from your browser's cache. Please try to log out through any browser you've been using Todoist on, clear its cache (or manually Todoist's app data) and log back in and let me know if the issue persists.

Best regards,
David

Hi,

I am afraid it is something with the account settings. By now login in does NOT work with the iPhone and the webversion at home and at work. The iPhone version is not reacting and the webversions give the same notification:

HTTPs (the encrypted version) of Todoist is only avaible for premium users

+1 to this same problem as described by Gerco.

I have logged into the iPhone app right now and it didn't return any error messages. The web-version didn't return any errors either when logging in through Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer on two systems - Windows XP and Windows 8.

Please tell me - are you accessing Todoist (on the web) directly through https://todoist.com or do you have any bookmarks that point to any other URL?

Best regards,
David

I have accessed it through the Mac application and through the web at that link on Safari on OSX Mountain Lion.

https://todoist.com on IE (windows) at work
https://todoist.com on Opera (Mac) at home
https://todoist.com on Safari (Mac) at home
iPhone app (app uninstalled, installed again)

On all it takes a very long time (1,5 minute) to load (the logo with the loading animation is visible). The iPhone gives a time out error, the webbrowsers give the error mentioned above.

Jake mentioned the mac app. I downloaded it and it gives the same result as with the browsers.

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue. Please tell me (Gerco and Jake) - did you add a lot of tasks to your list lately? How many tasks do you have on your accounts (approximately). The loading time may take 10-15 seconds depending on the amount of tasks on an account, but is should never take over 1 minute normally.

David

I only made 2 project, with about 5 tasks. Just to test it before i bought the premium version.

As a test I registered for a new account. It just works flawlessly on all browsers! It is therefor definitely an issue with the account...

Since I do not have a lot of tasks yet on the premium account could you not transfer the premium status of my existing account to the newly created account. That will at least solve it for me. Or is there a way to 'reset' my existing account? I'd be happy to give the details of the newly created account via a direct message.

OH! I did add a large number of tasks, around 1000, using the import tasks feature, because I needed to print out a large checklist. I used Python to generate a text file with all the tasks and imported. They are under a separate project, but I can't access it to delete the project. What do I do?

Gerco,

Yes, we can transfer your Premium status to a different account. Please send an email to david@doist.io you can send it through the email address you've used on the new account.

Nonetheless, we would certainly like to identify this issue. Please tell me - what version of Internet Explorer do you use at work where you can't log in?

Best regards,
David

Jake,

There is a limit of tasks that you can have in one project at once and it's set to 150 tasks to avoid any issues. If you've imported 1000 tasks then this is most likely the reason why your account may not be accessible because of it.

Please try to log in through https://todoist.com/m and if you can access your account through this interface, please delete the project that contains these tasks.

Best regards,
David

Jake,

Please tell me - did you try to access this URL through multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox)? If not, please try at least Chrome and let us know if it works.

Chrome doesn't seem to be working either. Is there a way to delete a project without accessing it directly?

Hello Jake,

Unfortunately this may not be possible. We could delete this project on your account from our end, but to do so, we need a clear permission from you to access your account. Please let us know if you agree and send the name of the project you want to have deleted to david@doist.io

David

Jake,

Both projects that you've mentioned have now been deleted. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep the project you've asked us to as it also had thousands of tasks in it.

However, you can restore the original content of your projects by downloading an older backup. To see how it works, please watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U96Nco_but4

Homework had thousands of tasks? I thought only States had thousands of tasks, and I only asked for that one to be deleted.

Jake,

Yes, unfortunately both hat too many tasks. Again, you can quickly restore the content of this project from an older backup (as shown in the video).

Do tasks include completed tasks? And then hypothetically if I use Todoist for another year per se, will my total tasks climb to this point? Should I be deleting all completed tasks periodically?

Ah nope I figured it out by downloading the backups made while this problem was going on. Somehow amid this nonsense, my tasks in Homework each got copied like a thousand times. But a day before that the backup has each separately, and because Todoist a) wonderfully backups every day and b) backups up separately by project I am backup up and fully functional. Thanks so much! I've learned my lesson about task limits now.

Jake,

We're glad to hear that. We will implement a fix that will prevent such situations permanently. Reg. your question - deleted tasks don't count toward any limitations, same applies to archived projects. They are not stored locally, but fetched from the server and therefore, they don't overload the cache and you can keep them forever.

Best regards,
David
