Still Problem with Recurring Dates

U

I reported a problem several weeks ago and several users reported same issue. I am still having same issue with recurring tasks - I add "Every Friday" and after subsequent generations of task it often changes the due date to Saturday or other days - but not Friday. If I change recurrence to something else and then go back to "Every Friday", it will correct, until subsequent generations of the task.

I am using Chrome extension for Todoist as well as mobile apps (iphone and ipad)

This is getting very annoying as the due dates are not showing consistent with their recurrence logic.

I can send you screenshots again like last time.

Hello Randy,

We would appreciate if you could attach the link to the past reports so we can follow-up on what information has been posted before.

Please tell me:
- Do you have the correct time zone selected on Todoist, your computer and your mobile device?
- Do you travel between time zones and complete any tasks while in a different zone?

Best regards,
David

Randy,

Thank you very much. Also, please let us know what's the status of your timezones. The questions I've posted above may help us understand the source of this issue while looking for a solution, we would appreciate if you could answer them.

Time zone is GMT - 4 (was GMT -5 before today due to DST)

Randy,

Thank you for this information, I have passed it to the developers and we hope to fix this issue as soon as we can.

Also, please clarify - were you always in the same timezone lately or did you travel to different zones (or set different times on your computer)?

Best regards,
David

Randy, please also let us know if you were ever using the "Do it today" option on these tasks (this will alter the due date formula of a task, we're working on it, though).

Best regards,
David

Hello. As far as timezones, I do travel often (1 time per week generally) between ET and CT time zones. On laptop, I am always on Eastern. On iphone and ipad they automatically update to local time.

On the Do It Today option, I am not aware of this choice and don't think I have ever used it.

As FYI, this problem did not exist for the first year or so of using your product. It started some time in past 3-4 months and is making your product very difficult to use when the "recurring date" is different than the display date (i.e. every Friday as recurrence but shows up as Wed or Sat or Sun as display taskdate). I have a current task that says every Sunday and it is being displayed as due Tomorrow (which is Wed).

Thanks

Randy,

Please clarify - does your iPhone and iPad have both the time and the time zone settings set to automatic or only the time settings while the zone is fixed?

In order for the due dates to work correctly, the correct time zone must be set on your phone according to where you're at (not just the time).

David

on iphone 5, option for date and time is set to automatic (they are coupled - there is not a separate choice for time vs. time zone). so this is not the issue.

on calendars (resident in iphone), time zone support is set to "off" which means that appointments are displayed based upon current location.

Randy,

Unfortunately, in addition to automatic timezone settings, when you change your time zone, you must also change it in Todoist's settings.

We're sorry for this inconvenience, in next updates we will make this option much easier and you will be prompted about it and can easily change the time zone in the settings with one tap.

Best regards,
David

Ok. This must be new requirement. This wasn't happening before despite using laptop, iPhone and iPad and going through multiple time zones including Europe last year.

Randy,

Yes, we've made some changes to the way our app stores and handles due times a while ago, but with the new prompt option which will be available in the next updates, the change of the time zone will be done with one tap.

Best regards,
David

FWIW, I had the same problem on a recent trip to AZ. The web version was still correct, but the iPhone I brought with me was now 2 hrs off on all re-occurring tasks. I was able to fix by deleting and re-installing the iPhone app. Looking forward to the fix.
