Google Calendar Import

D

I had imported my iCalendar feed to Google Calendar about 2 weeks ago. Recently I opened up Google Calendar and everything was off by one day, all my tasks and appointments were all listed the day after they were actually due (they were correct in todoist).

I thought there was a problem with Google Calendar, so I refreshed, waited a few days and still the same problem. I then unsubscribed, copied the iCalendar feed and attempted to add the URL to Google Calendar. I get the error, "Failed to import https://........" every single time I do this. Any suggestions? I need to be able to see my appointments on a monthly calendar at times.

Thanks

Hello Don,

There's been an issue which has caused this problem, but it's been fixed now. If you also see your tasks off by one day on your Todoist account directly, please loge out and back into it.

As for the failing iCal feed, unfortunately, it may be caused by a temporary server overload, please retry again at a later time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

I'm getting this too. Over and over again. Tells me Settings Error.
Have done the same as Don but no good. Server overload again?

Hello Andrew,

The issue Don was experiencing was most likely caused by a short outage we've been experiencing last week which has altered the due dates of tasks. This issue is already fixed, but it required to log out from the web-app and back in to see the changes.

Please tell me - are the due dates of your tasks correct on the web app, but incorrect in the calendar feed? If so - how much off are they?

If you're referring to the issue reg. adding the calendar feed, please try to add the iCal URL and once you see the yellow "Importing..." message, close the calendar. Google will retry to sync it multiple times automatically and all data should be synced within 24 hours.

Best regards,
David

David, hi.
Thank you for the really fast reply.
The dates are all correct.
My problem was... in the past tense that I couldn't get the calendar to import at all. Took well over two hours in the end. It just continually failed with an error saying that it had failed to import.

Now, it has imported, but did I read somewhere that if I make a change in Todoist, such as add a due date to a task, that this will not sync with the Google Calendar because of issues at Google's side?
That certainly does seem to be the behaviour, as I have been busy setting dates for tasks and times too. None of which have showed up in GC since the initial import.
Is there a way to force an update?

Again, thanks for a seriously quick response.

Andrew,

Google does synchronize/refresh the iCal feed, but unfortunately, they're doing it usually only once a day. We're looking into some alternative solutions regarding this issue and hope to implement a workaround in the future. We're also creating our own calendar view within Todoist.

OK, that explains why Google Calendar is so rubbish then. Thank you for the information.

I suppose a workaround could be Outlook and then Google Apps Sync.
I wait with anticipation Sir to see the integrated Calendar!

Thanks again. That answers my question.
