Due dates not retained (web)

RM

Before leaving for work this morning I added several tasks, with due dates.

Upon arriving at work, I opened the web app only to find that while the tasks were still listed, the due dates were missing. The clock icon was visible, but if the task was edited, the due date field was blank.

All responses

Hello Randolph,

Please tell me, did you add these dates through the web-app while in online more and refreshed the view at work?

Best regards,
David

David,

Correct; I added the tasks and due dates in the web-app in online mode; waited until updating was complete (more than three minutes), and refreshed the view when I arrived at work.

Randolph,

Please tell me - does updating always take 3 minutes? Any change you make should be synced within no more than 5 seconds.

Also, were all changes you've made reverted when you've refreshed the view at work or only some? Have you tried to log out and back in at work or clear your browser's cache?

Best regards,
David

David,

No, updates are always MUCH shorter; I was only making clear that I had not 'pulled the plug' before the update had a chance to complete. :)

Only some of the changes were lost (nice catch!) when I refreshed at the office. I've not tried either logging out or clearing Chrome's cache, but I will and report back.

David,

No change after logging out and logging back in; although some strange anomalies still exist regarding 'clock icons' with no due date, and completed (checked) child tasks not removed. I'll send you some more screen shots.

Randolph,

Unfortunately, we still have issues reproducing these issues. Could you please try to use Todoist for one day on a different newly installed browser with no plugins added to it and let us know if you experience any such issues?

David

David,

I just tested with three new parent/child tasks on new install of Firefox Portable and replicated the results. All that was necessary was to leave the parent/child structure 'expanded', go to a different Project, return to the 'home' project (where the parent/child was entered), you'll wee that the 'expanded' tasks still show due dates (and times), but if you collapse the hierarchy and re-expand the hierarchy, *almost* all the dates go away.

I'll send screen shots ...

Randolph,

Thank you for the screenshots. I see that you haven't allowed Todoist to use offline storage yet. Please tell me - can you reproduce this issue after allowing offline storage? Also, did you deny offline caching on Chrome as well?

Unfortunately, we still can't reproduce this issue even once. We've tried multiple browsers, created different circumstances, but no due date ever disappears when collapsing or expanding a task. We will continue to investigate this issue, but there's one more thing which I'd like to ask you that could help us - please try to create a new free Todoist account with a different email address and try to set up a couple of test tasks and let me know if the issue persists.

Best regards,
David

David,

I also noticed that I did not have off-line storage enabled on Firefox; it has since been enabled, and I can still reproduce the error (I'll send three more screen shots in a minute).

Unfortunately, I cannot open a new account and try this again until tonight, at the earliest, or this weekend, at the latest. Sorry, but my work is falling (a little bit) behind (probably by my own actions!).

David,

Sorry, but I *didn't* have off-line storage enabled on Chrome, how would I enable it?

Firefox 'nagged' me when I logged back in the second time, but I've not seen such a 'nag' from Chrome ...

David,

Sorry, what I *meant* to say in my last post was "IF I didn't have off-line storage enabled on Chrome (web-app, not extension), how would I enable off-line storage".

David,

It appears that the Team is making progress, yes? I created a test this evening using the web-app on the Chrome browser and it appears that the Parent and Child due dates/times ARE retained when the hierarchy is collapsed and reopened! Fantastic!

But I have a followup question (can't say its a bug report): I'm sending four screen shots that show the Project view with expanded and collapsed hierarchies, as well as the Today view, also with expanded and collapsed hierarchies. Is the Today view supposed to show the Due Time? If so, then we still have a problem, for, as you can see, the times are *not* shown in the Today view ...

Hello Randolph,

The issue reg. disappearing due dates is now fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience it has caused you.

As for your second question - yes, due times should be displayed on the left side of a task's name in the 7 days view and it seems that they are. If you don't see them there please try to:
- force-reload the page with Ctrl+F5 or
- log out and back in or
- clear your browser's cache and offline data.

Best regards,
David
