Multiple Projects appear out of nowhere

L

My Todoist went offline for awhile and I created 3 projects. When Todoist came back online I had about 50 multiples of each new project that I created offline. It was like each iteration of the cached saved offline instance was synched to the server. How would you recommend easily deleting the newly created multiple projects. Thanks for your help.

Well, it's more like 90 multiples for each project I setup offline. There was no easy way to delete them all so I manually deleted each one, more than 270 projects.

Also it appears that some of the due dates /recurring information was wiped out

Hello,

Please tell me - did you add these 3 project using our web-app, one of our browser plugins, email client plugins or mobile apps or a different mobile third-party app?

Best regards,
David

Hi David. I believe I used either the Chrome app or the Chrome plugin. I may have actually used both.

That's unfortunate. The steps I took are what I mentioned. I added 3 projects. I noticed that your program said it was "offline". When your program came back online I had 267 more copies of those projects. It was triggered by the offline issue. Was there a problem or a reason it went offline? I would prefer to stay with Todoist, it has great features, but if it goes offline again and it happens again then I probably won't bother contacting you again I will just look for another program.

Todoist is fully capable of offline work. You can disconnect from the internet anytime and you'll be able to continue to work with Todoist and all changes will be synchronized once you go online.

Our system has many advanced mechanisms preventing any element added offline from being synchronized two times (yet alone more than 2 times) and we're unsure how it was possible to to create 267 copies of a projects especially since we have a limit of 80 active projects which can be added on an account in total.

Please tell me - have you tried to clear the cache before deleting the projects? Also, do you have any other applications or plugins that in any way may alter or monitor network activity or use a lot of bandwidth?

Best regards,
David

Do you mean the Todoist cache? I don't know how to clear the Todoist cache. I don't believe I have any other plugins that would affect network activity or use much bandwidth. It was weird because this is the only time it has ever happened. I was connected to the Internet and everything else was working but Todoist could not connect to your server.

In fact, this was the only time I had ever used Todoist offline. Never had to do it before.

If you have the capability feel free to look at my projects and look under Emmanuel Diversified and the Tertiary projects are a remnant of what happened, I just haven't taken the time to delete those extra projects yet.

Todoist's cache can be cleared in Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data. If you delete todoist.com from this list all cache, app data or offline storage Todoist uses will be cleared.

When Todoist goes offline, it shows a orange triangle icon in the top-right corner. Did you click on it? This way you can force a sync right away.

As for the plugins - these could be any plugin that does anything related to the internet. Some Flash video downloading plugins may tamper with connections/requests in some rare cases. It's highly unlikely, though.

Again, we're very sorry for this inconvenience, we will of course continue to try to reproduce this issue and recreate the circumstances you've described to identify how this could have happened.

One more information that you could provide that could help us is the version of Chrome that you're using.

Best regards,
David

Ok, I cleared the cache. The orange triangle did appear and I clicked on it multiple times as I kept launching and getting the error message. The version of Chrome I have is Version 24.0.1312.52 m. Thanks.
