How do I add an email to my task list after it's open? (Outlook)

EK

I have free Todoist and I have the plugin installed for Chrome, Desktop and Outlook. I've been using it without issue except for this. If an email is in my inbox and I have it highlighted and showing in my reading pane, I have no problem Adding email to my tasklist.

BUT if I have the email open in a new window, I can't figure out how to add it to the list. There is no link in the tool bar at the top and if I click "Add email as task" it takes the one from my list, not the one that's open.

Do I have to hunt down the original email in the folder to add it to the list? Or can I somehow have an "Add to todoist" button on the command ribbon at the top of the email window?

Hello Elizabeth,

Unfortunately, you have to highlight the email you want to link to in a Todoist task, you can't add the one that's open if it's a different message.

With Todoist Premium, you could add emails as tasks even without using the plugin simply by forwarding the message to your Todoist project, not only would the subject of the mail become the task name, but also the entire message would be added as a task note.
