Color Configuration

VS

My Tasks used to have the option for the colors of blank, green, blue, and Red. It is vital for me to have 3 different colors to be able to differentiate my task type. How can i have my task colors changed back as it is very hard to differentiate the shades of blue offered.

Additionally... When I click on the "Labels" link in help it brings me the following in the pop-up window. When is this available (this is huge)
Edit and color your labels

With Todoist Premium, you can edit, delete, and color your labels. Here's how:
Run a query for your labels by clicking on the @ link. This returns a list of all your labels.
Open the labels menu by clicking on the gear icon next to the label you want to edit ()
This opens the following menu: (Abox of 8 colors shows up)

I guess this has to be somewhat of a complaint as i purchased the premium version because of this option. I don't understand why anyone would want 2 identical colors as every other program uses different colors to differentiate. Why would you guys get rid of the green, that should be used in every program to show that something is done. Very disappointing in this change, will be looking to change to another program and am no longer satisfied until that change is reversed.

I'm pretty sure David and the support staff will switch this back and add more colors as shown in the labels section in help as soon as possible, they've been great responding to issues like this so far. If we keep letting them know what we need and give them the opportunity to provide it we'll all win in the end.

I'd see what the support staff say's before jumping ship but I do understand your concern, I purchased the Premium edition for this feature as well. I loved it when the actual text could be in color. And this is a huge feature change.

If they could revert that would be great. If not, it's not much use to me as that is a huge benefit when dealing with multiple tasks per project.

Yea, agreed. This is why I went with todoist from Plan Plus.

Hello,

@Emmet - please tell me, does this pop-up window still occur after you log out and back in? According to our database, you should have a Premium account.

@Vladimir - We've removed the green color for multiple reasons. It wasn't intuitive enough that this task has priority, instead, as you've mentioned, it might have suggested that it's completed. Secondly, it wasn't too obvious which of these three colors are assigned to what priority. Now, the red one is the top priority and the blue ones suggest a lower priority and we've just adjusted their shades to make them clearly distinguishable.

As for the overall change from coloring the checkboxes instead of the whole task name, we think that it allows a much clearer overview over your tasks, it gives consistency with our mobile applications, doesn't collide with links which were always blue by default and the colored checkboxes are still very clearly visible.

Of course we appreciate your feedback and we will consider improving the priority system even more.

Best regards,
David

Ok, I understand but it depends on how you use the colors. They worked for me previously but now is harder to use.

"blue ones suggest a lower priority and we've just adjusted their shades to make them clearly distinguishable."

I don't really agree as the two checkboxes should have a complete different color. The blues are not clearly distinguishable which is why i started this thread. I think anyone would agree with me that their is no point of having two similar colors if their is only 4 choices to choose from. Instead of a light blue, it should be something else like purple, orange, anything but a similar color. Perhaps on a bigger screen it would be more distinguishable but on my equipment it really looks similar.

I don't really mind having the colored checkboxes instead of the hole task, it's more of the issue of being able to quickly identify the task by the color which this new change hinders. Plus, it's just a little annoying to be honest and quite illogical in my opinion. I love the app and everything that it does, but once again this is pretty disappointing.

Since their obviously exists a difference of opinion, you should let users choose the color from a menu option, or just provide more choices and let people choose whatever they want as that really shouldn't be all that difficult from a programming point of view.

Not intended to sound rude, just a little frustrated as i loved how it was set up before.

Vladimir,

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the shades of blue, we've changed them recently. Please try to force-reload the Todoist app with Ctrl+F5 or log out and back in to see the changes. Let us know if they're more distinguishable now.

Best regards,
David

I agree with the several folks who have raised concerns about the colors. It would be best if people had the flexibility to choose their own color scheme for the priorities as we with the labels. I also find the move to only highlight box portion problematic for the way I use this service. I would suggest at least making it optional.

More customization and user control is always best. There is no one size fits all solution and it would be far better to be able to tailor this to a person's preferences, work style, etc. rather than presumptuously dictating what is "clear".

Thanks,
Matt

If you go to the "Help" section and click on "labels" and scroll down to "edit and color labels" the box that comes up as an option (the one with eight colors in it) would solve all issues. Having that for tasks/projects would please everyone.

Can this be easy?

To be honest it really doesn't look all that much different after the adjustment. Plus, on android phone the color still stayed green or is still showing up green for all of the accounts that are supposed to show up as light blue.

I guess my concern still stands that it's the same color but a different priority number, that's just confusing to have a similar color. When i rate them 1-4 based on priority, the way the brain works is that it has to have a completely different color associated to it to be intuitive and register quickly otherwise it does no good what so ever in producing a quick search function between hundreds of potential tasks.

Request Still Stands - Change the color all together if possible and sync with android phone app.

I am really unhappy with the color change also. I was extremely happy with this app but am now wondering if I will be able to use it any longer! I much preferred the green option but honestly anything other than 2 shades of the same color would have been best.

I agree that either the green should be returned as the color for priority 3 items, or we should have the option to configure our own. The two shades of blue is confusing. As a long time premium user, I find this very annoying.

I'd like to add my support to allowing using to customise the colours of priority labels. Colours are ultimately a subjective matter, and rather than make judgement calls on behalf of users of what is "intuitive" or not, I think it would be better to give this control to users, especially as the change that one user makes has no effect on any other users.

I find in my business that surveying my customer base gives me the data I need for successful marketing and expansion.

Perhaps surveying the users on this topic would be a very bright idea for the staff.

All my best,

I have added a reqest for the new color scheme as so did some others in the Votebox. PLease vote whoever was not satisfied with the same color for 2 different tasks.

My 2 cents:

The overall color palette is so muted.

The dullest of oranges, its a peach - meh, ick.

And the blues and reds... it is all so feminine.

I would strongly urge a color palette of crayons.

Simple and strong.

Urge, no I beg!

Please, my eyes are burning. I love Todoist!! Please make better use of the colors.

Also, everyone here is right, you can't have 2 of the same color for priorities.... 2 blues, no no.

I would also like to voice my discontent with the RED/BLUE/BLUE/WHITE color scheme for task priority.

What I propose:

(1) A default scheme of RED/AMBER/GREEN/WHITE - sorta a traffic light model

(2) User selected color scheme along the lines of the label color implementation

Karl.

I also feel that the traffic light model is better. The red blue blue white model makes no sense. Still no amber in the edit ability for priorities also.
