why no projects and search list on default view on mac application

I would like to be able to use the mac app as my primary todoist input app, but I'm not really able to do this because the project/search list can not be permanently pinned to the application interface (as on the web version of the app, where its always in place).

As it stands, in the mac app, you can show the projects lists, but as soon as you select focus in another area, the list goes away which is frustrating, and which makes it difficult to work with.

It would seem like it could easily be a preference to leave the projects/search box on the screen permanently. Is that possible? Is there a work around solution?

Thanks.
