Outlook addin: Print function causes Outlook to freeze

AR

It worked fine this morning. Now, this evening when I click the Print button, the cursor becomes a hand (everywhere in Outlook) and Outlook stops responding.

I killed the process via the Task Manager and re-launched Outlook. Upon trying to print again, the same thing happened.

I tested printing via the Web interface and thankfully it's fine.

All responses

Hello Amanda,

Please tell me - did you try to print a very long list (longer that normally)?

Can you please try to print a very short task list (could be one test project with 1 or 2 tasks)? This feature always tries to open Internet Explorer's window, if you've made any changes to Internet Explorer lately, please also let me know.

Best regards,
David

I just tried with a shorter list (still spanning 3 projects, mind you) and it still froze.

No recent changes to IE...in fact I was just able to print my task list from IE a few moments ago and it was fine.

I will kill Outlook and try again with just 1 task. Will also try rebooting just in case it's some kind of interprocess glitch.

Amanda,

If the issue will persist, please let me know:
- What version of Windows, Outlook and Internet Explorer are installed on your computer?
- Are you using any other Outlook plugins?

Best regards,
David

Good news: rebooting appears to have fixed it.
Now when I click Print, an IE window does open with the selected tasks.

I'm running Outlook 2010, Windows 7, IE 9.
No other OL plugins installed.

If it does happen again, I'll add a note here.

p.s. Many thanks, it really helped me to understand that it was trying to open an IE window.
