I didn't seem to receive a reply last time so I'll try again.
I am trying to turn an email into a task from Gmail, on my iPad.
I know now that this cannot be done through the Gmail app or the Chrome app. I am happy to log into Gmail through a browser (Safari if needed) and use Todoist anywhere. The problem is that it won't allow me to.
Any ideas? I really need to be able to turn a email into a task from the email.
unfortunately, this won't be possible on the iPad right now (you can use our plugins on any desktop computer, though), but we are going to improve our iPad offering soon so feel free to follow us on Facebook, Google+ or Twitter to get the latest news about future Todoist updates.
Thanks for the reply.
This is a problem for me as I work from my iPad around 60% of the time.
Is there a work around for this problem?
If not do you have a estimated time frame to update for iPad compatibility?
unfortunately, there is no workaround to add emails as tasks and we don't have any specific timeframe for this improvement (we will soon release our brand new iOS app and will extend the offer afterwards).
There is one more option, though - sending emails as tasks. This won't allow you to link a message as a task as shown on the video I've mentioned earlier, but it will allow you to at least schedule your to-dos using email.
If you go to the full web-app at todoist.com and then enter a project, please use the gear icon at the very top of the list (to the right of the project name at the top, the one that says "Task actions" when you hover over is). You'll see options such as "Sort by date", "Sort by priority", but also "Email tasks to this project".
Choose this option and you'll see a unique email address assigned to this particular project (each project has a different one). Now, if you add this address to your contact list in GMail, you can forward any email to it and it will create a task out of this message where the subject of it will become the task name and the content of the message - a task note.
You can use this option even to add due dates, labels or reminders to a task. For detailed information, please refer to the instructions written in the window with the project's unique email address.
That should work for now.
