Sometimes the Outlook plugin doesn't display the labels for a task
From time to time I notice the Outlook plugin doesn't display the labels for the tasks. When I open Todoist in IE it shows the labels correctly. When I click a task in the Outlook plugin to edit the task, the "@label" doesn't appear in the text box. When I add the label the label popup opens, but doesn't display any of my labels. It's as if the labels don't exist.
unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue. Please tell me:
- Which version of Outlook are you using?
- Which operating system are you using?
- What version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer?
Also, it would be very helpful if you could clarify when exactly does this issue occur. When adding a task using the "Quick Add" feature from the today view or in a project view?
I'm running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 and the Outlook version number is 14.0.6123.5001 (32 bit).
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise, Service Pack 1 (64-bit).
I'm running Internet Explorer version 9 (version number 9.0.8112.16421).
I'm running the Outlook plugin and have Todoist docked on the right side. The list of tasks in that view is where I see the problem. None of the tasks show the labels.
The second problem I've noticed is that when I edit a task (by clicking the task) the "@label" tag doesn't show up in the text box. When I type "@label" the popup is empty, where it usually shows a list of matching labels.
When I open Todoist directly in IE I don't see these problems. Just when I'm viewing Todoist through the Outlook plugin.
I've seen this problem before. It comes and goes, but this time it seems to be staying.

Please try to clear Internet Explorer's cache. If this won't help, go to http://todoist.com/?mini=1 directly through IE and let me know if you can see the labels (in tasks and the auto-complete box) there.
I cleared the IE cache and restated Outlook, but the labels still do not show up.
The labels do show in the URL you provided.
Could you please send a screenshot of one such task (and a screenshot of a task in edit mode which shows no labels in the drop-down menu to email@example.com ?
Also, do you have any other plugins installed in Outlook except from the Todoist plugin?
Here's a bit more information that may help you analyze this problem. In my initial report I said displaying the labels would come and go. I think I've figured out why (how) they start displaying again after not being visible. When I edit a task and add a label, the label for that task appears. Then, if I refresh the view (right click and select the Refresh option), all the labels appear, expect for the task that I just added the label too. I have to readd the label for that task and then it appears too.

Based on the description of how you can recreate it, it's very typical for caching issues. Please tell me - when you've cleared the cache in Internet Explorer, did you check off all the boxes except the one at the top (which, if checked, will keep parts of your data)?
What are your history settings? Is it deleted each time you close the browser? Do you allow at least 100 MB of storage for this data? Do you have "Automatically" selected in the temporary files settings (General -> Settings (in the "Browsing History" section))?
When I cleared the cache I unchecked the top option (Preserve Favorites website data) and checked the next three options (Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History). I did not check the last four items (Download History, Form data, Passwords, and ActiveX Filtering and Tracking Protection data).
I agree this looks like a caching issue. The interesting thing is IE never had the problem while the Outlook plugin did. Do they have two separate caches?
Basically, they should share the same cache. Outlook itself doesn't really influence the content of the plugin pane which is just an Internet Explorer's frame using all of IE's settings.
I will pass this issue to the developers as I'm unsure at this point what may cause such issue.
Has the developer had a chance to look at this issue? The problem still happens once in a while.
Unfortunately, we still can't reproduce this issue. Please tell me, how many tasks do you have on your account (approximately)? Also, are you ever using Todoist in both Outlook and Internet Explorer at the same time?
I have about 100 active tasks and have just over 1100 closed tasks. I rarely open Todoist in both IE and Outlook, but I will open IE when I need to see my tasks in a larger window.
Unfortunately, we still can't reproduce this issue, but we will continue to try to find it and fix it as soon as we can. We're very sorry for the delays and any inconvenience caused by this issue.
