Closed todoist pain in outlook, now I can't get it back.

LM

Hi,

I installed Todoist for outlook and after recycling outlook saw the Todoist pane fine. While fiddling with it I closed the Outlook pane, now I can't get it back.

How can I get the Todoist pane back. Also can I replace the outlook tasks pane with the todoist pane?

Thanks
Louis

Hello Louis,

if you're using Outlook 2010, please try to use the "Todoist" button in the "Add-ins" tab at the top. If it won't help, go to Outlook's Options -> Add-Ins, click "Go" next to the "COM Add-ins" drop-down menu and you'll see a list of your plugins with check boxes next to them. Tick the check box next to "OutlookTodoist" and it should reappear.

If none of this helps, you can go to your system's Add/Remove Programs settings in the Control Panel, uninstall "OutlookTodoist' and install it back again.

As for your second question, unfortunately, it's not possible to replace the tasks pane with the Outlook plugin pane, but at the top of the "Tasks" section, there should be an arrow icon allowing you to minimize it. Also, try to see if you can completely turn it off in the View settings.

Best regards,
David

I have a related question--I'm using Outlook 2013 with Exchange. Whenever i close the pane in Outlook, I have to either close and re-open Outlook to get it back, or re-install the add-in. Is there any way to open and close the pane without having to go through these steps?

Hello Jim,

Please tell me, do you see an "Add-ins" tab in Outlook (at the top)? If so - there should be a "Todoist" link/button there which will toggle the pane on and off.

We will soon add an option to hide the pane just as Outlook's own "Tasks" pane so you will see an edge of it and will be able to expand it.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Installing Todoist did not activate the Add-ins tab/ribbon in my Outlook. I checked the ribbon settings and it does not appear that Todoist added any buttons on the tab. I do, however, have the "Add to project" button on the Home ribbon. Thanks for your help.

Jim,

We're sorry for the inconvenience. We'll address this issue in the upcoming update. For now, please try to reactivate the plugin in Outlook's Options -> Add-ins, click on "Go" next to "COM Add-ins" and check the box next to "OutlookTodoist".

Best regards,
David

Thanks again for the response.

Actually, clicking on the "X" in the corner of the pane does not disable the Add-in. So I need to go to "COM Add-ins" and disable then re-enable the Add-in. So what I did was create the following macros:

Sub disabletodoist()
Dim intX As Integer
For intX = 1 To Application.COMAddIns.Count
If Application.COMAddIns.Item(intX) = "OutlookTodoist" Then
Application.COMAddIns.Item(intX).Connect = False
End If
Next
End Sub

Sub enabletodoist()
Dim intX As Integer
For intX = 1 To Application.COMAddIns.Count
If Application.COMAddIns.Item(intX) = "OutlookTodoist" Then
Application.COMAddIns.Item(intX).Connect = True
End If
Next
End Sub

Then i created buttons for them in the home ribbon, so I can exit out and re-initialize Todoist easily.
