Outlook tasks not syncing

Hello,
I installed the free version of Todoist and have the add-in working with outlook but the Tasks from Outlook are not syncing...? It is just blank...? I tried to 'refresh' the add-in but that did not help...

Wat should I do?

Hello Sheryl,

please clarify - are you referring to Outlook's own Tasks feature or the tasks you have on your Todoist account?

The Todoist for Outlook plugin doesn't work with Outlook's own Tasks solution and can be used as an alternative to it therefore your tasks from Todoist will not create Outlook Tasks and vice-versa.

However, within the Todoist plugin pane, you should see all your Todoist tasks from the web-version of Todoist. If you don't see anything, please tell me:
- Did you use the same email/password combination?
- What exactly do you see in the plugin pane - a completely blank white page or the login screen?

Hi David,

I'm having a similar issue. For me, the Todoist Outlook plugin DOES sync with Todoist servers, but there's a definite lag (seems to be a full day). That is, items that I enter into Todoist on my phone or in my browser don't show up in the Outlook plugin for a long time, and tasks that I enter in Outlook, or check off as done don't sync to my phone or browser Todoist for a while. I don't know the actual lag, but it's more than a couple hours and less than a couple days.

I've been looking for a way to force a sync in the Outlook plugin, but have not yet found one. Is it possible? If so, how please?

I did use the same email password combination (didn't know I had a choice) , and I see a full screen of my tasks in the Outlook screen.

Many thanks for all the good work y'all at Todoist propogate. In general, I'm VERY happy with the app and with the support, and am doing my best to increase your work load by bringing others into the fold.

Please ignore my last post. After writing it, I wondered if I could just sync using my phone or browser. I did so using my phone, and the items I checked off in the Outlook plugin immediately went away on the phone.

I suppose the confusion came in because the items I checked off in Outlook don't seem to go away. They turn grey, but remain on the list with the check mark visible. That said, they disappear from the lists on the phone and browser, so it's pretty moot.

Hello Mike,

I'm glad to hear that you've found the solution. You can actually force a move to the history for sub-tasks if you hold the SHIFT key while checking a sub-task off. This will move it to the completed tasks list immediately.

Of course a manual sync on the phone or in the web-app might still be required. If you want to reload the view within Outlook, plesae right click on the top bar of the plugin (where the link to "Show project" is placed) and simply choose "reload" (or "refresh") from the context menu.

Our new official mobile apps will have a mechanism that will automatically force a sync and we also plan to roll out an update that will force a synchronization automatically throughout every app window you may have opened anytime, but we can't give you any timeframe when it will be published.
