Problems Synching with IPOD Touch

N

Recent convert to todoist, does everything I want.
One problem. If I am using my IPOD Touch and tick some items as completed, and then for some reason a sync fails, it seems to lose all the changes I made on the TOUCH.
Really need to be able to use this on my Touch to give me the flexibility I want

Hello Neilcon,

please tell me:
- Which version of iOS is installed on your iPod?
- Are you connected to the internet when trying to sync the data manually or does this only happen it you click on the sync button while not being connected?
- Does the same issue occur if you access the mobile site http://todoist.com/m through your browser on the iPod?
- Have you checked on the Todoist web-app if any of the changes have been stored, or maybe some of them were stored partially?

Best regards,
David

Sorry, should have been more specific.

IOS Version is 4.2.1 (8C148), which I think is the latest version for my 2nd generation IPOD.

It happens when there is no internet connection. I occidentally clicked the refresh button and it said it could not refresh, then when it came back to the app changes had gone. I was doing some shopping and had checked the items I had picked up, and all the checkmarks had gone.

I tried it again this morning and was able to easily reproduce.
Make a change on the IPOD
Try to synchronise with no Internet connection
Changes gone from IPOD

I realise that I can just avoid trying to sync when there is no connection, but there are two options to do it on a small screen so I think it would be quite easy to occidentally hit one.

Still thing this is a brilliant todo list. Does exactly what I want.

Neilcon,

thank you for this detailed information, I will address this issue to the developers, but could you please also try to access the mobile site http://todoist.com/m through your browser on the iPod and try to reproduce this issue from there?

Note - you'll have to be connected to the internet when accessing this site for the first time. Then you can try to go offline, check some tasks off and try to synchronize the changes to see it the same issue occurs.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Just tried the sequence that you suggested and it does show the same problem. Went on-line and got on to web site. Switched the wireless off, then checked a couple of things and pressed resync. Go a message saying it couldn't sync and when I cleared that my check marks had gone.

I then tried the same thing on my Galaxy tab running Gingerbread and got the same problem. Went on the the mobile web site, switched to flight mode, checked a couple of things, pressed resync and when the message cleared the checkmarks had gone

Hope this helps

Neil

Neil,

I've been able to reproduce this issue. It seems like it's only a visual bug because even though the checkmarks disappear, when you connect to the network after they're gone and then try to sync again, the previously checked tasks will be synced as "completed" (even though they don't have the check mark anymore) and disappear.

Still, we will try to fix this issue as the check marks shouldn't disappear.

Thank you for reporting this bug and sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused you.

Best regards,
David

Hello Neilcon,

we have fixed this issue and it has been deployed to the mobile ( http://todoist.com/m ) site. We will also include this in an updated release of the iOS app soon.

Best regards,
David
