How do I mark Parent Taks complete???

SH

Fantastic program, but I cannot find a way to mark parent tasks as complete. I can mark child tasks complete, but there is no option it seems for the parent (main) taks.

What am I missing?

Hello Shawn,

parents tasks can be completed the same way sub-tasks do by checking the check-box in front of them. The only exception is when you use an asterisk in front of a task to make it a "header" in which case it won't have a checkbox.

Please try to clear your browser's cache or use a different browser to make sure that it's not a browser issue.

Also, if you do see the check-box next to a parent task, could you please tell me what happens exactly when you try to check it off? Do you see a circular pending icon?

Best regards,
David

Not sure what I am missing, the parent task does not have a check box, but I did not use an asterisk in front of the title, this is the same for all of my parent tasks.

THis is on OSX using the Todist app, not in the browser.

Shawn,

please try to re-install the app or try to clear your browser's cache (even if you're not accessing Todoist through the browser).

If this won't help, please tell me:
- Does this issue only occur in the Mac App?
- Are you using OS X version 10.7 or better?
- Does it only happen on parent tasks that have sub-tasks or all tasks on the first indent-level? Does the check-box of a task disappear when you put a sub-task under it and indent it?

Best regards,
David

I just realized, I think I made a miscommunication, it is not the tasks that I cannot mark as complete it is the projects themselves.

I can mark tasks complete fine, but I was referring to projects as partent tasks.

How do I mark a project complete, without deleting it? Or how do I write a query to view all projects that have active tasks?

Sorry for the confusion.

Shawn,

unfortunately, project can't be completed right now, but we're working on a way to enable archiving them (you're welcome to add your vote for this request in our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/67/ ).

For now, as a workaround, you can create a sub-project called "Archive" or "Completed" and reorder your projects by putting the finished ones below it and then indent them as sub-projects of the "Completed" project so you'll be able to collapse them. You could also use the asterisk * before the project name to treat it as a group of projects. Please take a look at this short video to see how it can be done:

As for your second question, you can view all your tasks across all projects by typing "viewall" or "va" into the search box.

David
