Hi,
Good app indeed.
Only one improvement at this point: scrolling to the top
should be faster, like you can in Safari.

It's definitely a good start -- already the best iOS Todoist app out there.

I have a question, and a suggestion. The question is about sync -- does that only happen manually, or if there's a live data connection are changes transmitted in real time? This definitely needs to be clarified in the app, somehow. It seems that at the least, there needs to be a way to add a flag to the app to indicate that a sync may be necessary, to prevent errors caused by people falsely assuming that their data is current.

My feature request: better label support. The app should have a drop-down list of labels available (at least for premium users), and it should support custom label colors. The latter, at least, should be extremely easy to implement.

Thanks

Thanks for the new app. I loaded it on my iPOD touch and it won't take my password. I checked and the password will work on the desktop. I don''t know if this is a general problem or if your server is overloaded in the rush for the new app.

Hello,

@Mark
Thank you for your suggestion, we will consider it in future development.

As for your question about syncing - if you are connected to the internet, all your actions will be synced automatically just as they are when you use Todoist through the website. However, if you're offline, you will have to sync them manually later when you're connected.

When you make changes in the mobile app, an asterisk will appear on the right side of the "sync" button, as seen here (see left-upper button):
http://files.wedoist.com/478ad52241079fd9dcc45ffc27e5ccc3/as/iOS_app_sync.png

If you make changes in Todoist on your computer (or another device), you will have to sync the mobile app afterwards. Currently, it doesn't happen automatically due to very high server costs for such such system, but we're considering changing this in the future.

@Bob
please tell me:
- What happens exactly if you enter your login/password?
- Do you get an error message?
- Are you connected to the internet when you're trying to log in?

David

David,
Yes I'm connected.
I get this message in a pink/red box:
Some errors occurred, please fix them and try again: *Wrong email or password.

I tried logging out from the desk-top and then in on the iPOD. Same. I could try deleting and reinstalling the app.

I appreciate your help.

Bob,

are you using the iOS version 3.0 (or later) on your devices?

If you do, please try to create a new Todoist account (with a different email address), log in using the new email/password and let me know if it works.

David

David,
ios 4.3.5 (8L1)

I have only one email address.

Can you just delete my account?? I have nothing in there that needs to be saved.

I've logged out on all my systems.

David,

Not sure that said what I meant.

If you can delete the account I'll start over and see what happens.

Really glad to have a dedicated Todist app! I'm experiencing the same problem as Bob: the app works on my iPad and I have no problems online, but on my 2nd gen. iPod touch (using version 4.2.1) I keep getting a message that says my email or password is incorrect.

Also, I'm finding that one of my projects crashes the app on my iPad (using version 5.0) everytime I try to open it (it happens to be my largest project with the most and longest entries - don't know if that matters or not). All of my other projects open, however, some of them take a very long time to open on my iPad (e.g. sometimes between 30 and 60 seconds before anything appears).

Hello.

@Bob,
you can create multiple email addresses for free at various providers (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc.). If you'd like to delete your account, please go to Preferences -> Account and click "Delete my Todoist account" which will delete it permanently along with all its tasks/projects.

However, due to an increased amount of other similar reports, it seems that it's not a unique account-based issue so you don't need to follow these steps. Sorry for the confusion.

I have forwarded this issue to the developers, thank you for pointing it out and sorry for the inconvenience.

---

@Cliff,
please tell me:
- How many tasks (approximately) do you have within the project that crashed the app on your iPad?
- Are you connected to the internet when trying to log in?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for the quick response. I have 150 entries in that project, many of them quite lengthy. Also, yes, I am connected to the internet when the crash with that project occurs.

Hello David,
Thanks for the native iPhone app.

A couple of observations:
1. As with Cliff, when I go to a project with a large number of entries (>700), the app crashes
2. The app is slow to load
3. I was a little surprised that I cannot collapse/open nested tasks on the iPhone, as I can from my browser

Hello,

thank you for your reports and sorry for any inconvenience with the performance issues, I have forwarded this to the developers.

@Joel,
in order to identify the problem, please tell me:
- On which device are you using the app (and with which versions of the iOS)?
- If you're using it on multiple devices, does the app crash on all of them or only one (if so - which one)?

Thank you for your feedback, we will consider adding an option to collapse sub-tasks in future revisions.

David

Thanks for releasing this! Few initial suggestions:

1.) 'today' on the website shows overdue items plus currently due items. When I hit 'today' on the app, it only shows items due exactly TODAY and I have to go to a different view to see overdue stuff. Please change the app to be consistent with the website.
2.) When scrolling through a big list of tasks, you have to scroll all the way back to the top to get the 'back' button. Please add a 'back' button at the top nav bar next to the sync button and/or go back by swiping from left to right.
3.) Is there a way to view completed tasks? That'd be a nice-to-have but not top priority for me.

Cheers!

Hello Joseph,

thank you very much for your feedback, we appreciate it and will consider it in future revisions of our app.

As for your third question - unfortunately, such option is not available yet, but we may add it in the future.

David,
I just signed up for todoist today. so far I like it (looking to convert from wunderlist). I setup several projects and tasks on the web and installed the ipad app from the store. I am using ios 4.3.5 and cannot log in. Same condition as @bob. just tells me "some errors occured, please fix them and try again: * wrong email or password". I went to the web with safari and logged in just fine and can see all my tasks. Currently I am on my companies wireless with the ipad and am behind a bluecoast web proxy/filter. I can get to the site in safari with no issue but cannot log in with the app. this is a primary reason for looking to replace wunderlist as it is known not to work behind a proxy. This is a requirment for me. Looking to keep tasklist between my phone (Galaxy S), ipad and work PC all in sync. Please help :)..

@Dave,
I am at home now and still can't log in to the iPad app, iOS 4.3.5, iPad 2. It seems to not have anything to do with the proxy.

Hey all

I think we might have a bug with iOS 4.x. We are looking into these issues now, hopefully we have a solution soon.

Good start, but lacks A LOT of the features available on the site. A few features that should be at the top of the list: task sorting, label management, and ability to expand and collapse subtasks.

Hello,

the 1.9 version of our iOS app is now available in the App Store http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/todoist/id476672770?ls=1&mt=8

It has been upgraded to PhoneGap 1.2.0 which should fix the issue with logging in on devices using iOS 4.x.

Please update your app and if you still experience any issues - let us know.

David

Hello Ruairi,

Please make sure that you're using our official app available from here: http://todoist.com/iphone When you install it and use the same credentials to log into your Todoist account through this app, then all your tasks will be synchronized right away. Later, you can sync any changes using the circular "sync" button in the top-left corner of the app.

Following up on https://todoist.com/Support/showQuestion/368/, I can add subtasks to a particular task on the Web and Android clients, but I can't find a way to do so on the iPhone. The only workaround that I've found is to add a task at the bottom of the list at the right level of indent, then drag it up to the place I want it. With 50+ items in a list, that's a challenging workaround. Is there a solution that I've missed?

I'd also love to be able to collapse and expand subtasks on the iPhone, like I can on the Web client.

Hello Scott,

Both options are indeed not directly possible in our iOS app yet, but we'll consider adding them in future updates.
