Wrong time and date displayed

CH

When I returned from my oversees trip, I noticed tasks that existed prior to my trip have incorrectly displayed times and due dates. But when I go into to the field to correct it, the actual time and due date is correct. The difference in displayed and actual time and date is inconsistent. Sometimes the display is 14/16/17 hours ahead of the actual. I can't help but think that the due dates/times for some tasks are still being synced in a different time zone that coincided with my oversees trip. But even then, it's still an hour off from the countries I visited. For tasks created after my overseas trip, the due dates and times display correctly.

Hello Cathy,

please tell me:
- Did you choose the proper time zone (in the Preferences) each time you've visited a country in a different zone?
- Are you now using the proper time zone?
- Are you accessing Todoist directly through the website or through a plugin (if so - which one)?

As for the tasks that are 1 hour off, please post an example of the due date/time and both time zones that you've selected - the one you've used while entering the task and the one you're using along with the information when did were you in the particular time zone (there might be an issue related to some countries' daylight saving time).

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

- Did you choose the proper time zone (in the Preferences) each time you've visited a country in a different zone?
>> Each time I entered a country I did not adjust the time zone in preferences. The tasks with incorrectly displayed time and date stamps were created prior to my trip.

- Are you now using the proper time zone?
>> Now that I am in the same time zone as those tasks (mostly repeated tasks) created prior to my trip, I would expect them to be the same since they were unedited.

- Are you accessing Todoist directly through the website or through a plugin (if so - which one)?
>> I have always used Todoist directly from the website on my laptop, iPad, or Android phone web browser. No plugin, no app.

Unfortunately, I do not have tasks that are an hour off from my current time zone. The hour reference is relative to the countries I visited abroad. For example Thailand is 14 hours ahead and Taiwan is 15 hours ahead. But I have tasks displaying 14/16/17 hours ahead of the correct time. and the different between the various display times and the countries' times range from 0 to 3 hours not just 1 hour. So that's the confounding part.

Hope this helps.

Cathy

Cathy,

please tell me:
- Does forcing a reload using Ctrl+F5 help?
- If you edit a task and save it again, does the time gets fixed?
- Which timezone are you using right now?
- If you add a new task now, does it display the correct time?
- Which browser are you using?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

- Does forcing a reload using Ctrl+F5 help?
>> No.

- If you edit a task and save it again, does the time gets fixed?
>> Editing either the task description or separately the time, the due date and time gets fixed.

- Which timezone are you using right now?
>> PDT

- If you add a new task now, does it display the correct time?
>> Yes, any tasks added post-trip displays the correct date and time.

- Which browser are you using?
>> While abroad, I was strictly using Safari on iPad and the Android web browser on my mobile phone. Back in the States, I am using Safari on iPad, Android web browser on my mobile, Chrome and Firefox on my laptops -- all which consistently display the same todoist information.

Cathy,

please go to the Preferences -> General and tell me which time zone are you using in Todoist? Please post the exact description as some time zones have multiple cities and if there's an issue with a particular selection, it would help me to reproduce it.

Best regards,
David

Cathy,

I'm sorry but I can't reproduce this issue.

Actually, the only way I've been able to show an incorrect time is when I've changed the timezone in the Preferences, then completed a task in the new timezone and then switched back, but if you haven't changed your timezone in Todoist at any point (and all due dates use proper formats supported by Todoist, listed here: http://todoist.com/Help/timeInsert), then I can't recreate this issue :(

I'm afraid the only way to fix your incorrect times would be to change them manually. If you have multiple tasks with same dates, you can press and hold the Ctrl button, select all tasks with the same date and choose "Change date" from the blue menu bar at the top of the screen.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

Hi Dave,

Thanks for being attentive with my issue. If I were able to upload screenshots or if we could meet over the net, and I could share my browser view, I could show you that the issue still exists. But after all of the information passed on thus far, I understand that being able to replicate the issue is the only way to trouble shoot. I will keep this in mind the next time I travel and be on the look out to catch the issue in action. Do you know if other users have reported similar issues?

Cathy,

unfortunately, only finding out a way to trigger this bug can make it possible to find its cause.

So far, we were unaware of this issue and haven't got any reports from other Customers experiencing it.

Still, thank you for pointing it out and providing all the information and sorry for the inconvenience this issue might have caused you.

Best regards,
David

Hi Claudiu,

Please check the timezone of your computer and make sure it's correct. I run into same problem before and it was due to the computer timezone and Todoist timezone (in the setup) did not match.

Regards,

Clyde
