Overdue recurring dates cannot be checked off

MS

Hi,
I have some simple recurring dates (ev fr etc.), which show up as some days overdue - but I'm unable to check them off: the symbol never stops revolving. I've tried to clear the browser cache (Firefox 5) AND deleted the entry for acceting offline data use - doesn't work.
Any clues?
Regards,
Marino

I have been having this same issue for a while. I have had to delete the tasks and re-add them. Would be great to have a fix for this!

Hello,

please tell me the exact form you've typed into the "due date" field and from which view are you trying to check off this task(s).

Also, are you accessing Todoist directly through the website or through a plugin/add-on (if so, which one)?

Best regards,
David

I don't remember exactly what I typed into the due date but it was something like "every 1, 15."

I have had this problem with the Mac desktop app and the Firefox plug-in. Not sure if it also occurred directly on the website.

Hello Lisa,

if you still have this task you can see what you typed into the due date by editing the task.

This issue is usually caused by using not supported recurring date formats. Please use only the formats listed here:
https://todoist.com/Help/timeInsert

If you encounter such issue again, please let me know which date format you have used.

David

Hi,
I still have the problem, that overdue recurring tasks cannot be checked off. The due dates are quite simple - such as "every thu" ...
Any help?

Best regards,
Marino

Hello Michael,

please tell me:
- From which view are you trying to check it off? Project view? Search result (if so, what query did you type)?
- If you create a new project, add 1 task to it with "every thu" as the due date and check it off within the project view, do you still experience this issue?
- Also, are you accessing Todoist directly through the website or through a plugin/add-on (if so, which one)?

David

Hello, David!

The view I'm using is my start page: "od, tod, tom, p1, p2, p3"

When I add a new project with a task dated "every thu" - the same result, with a slight difference: when I try to check it it is at once unchecked, i.e. no revolving icon.

It occurs on the todoist website, not in the add-on.

Best regards,
Michael

Hello Michael,

I'm sorry, but I can't reproduce this issue :(

Did you set up your start page via the options or bookmarked the URL? The proper URL for your query should be:
http://todoist.com/app#agenda/od,__tom,__tod,__p1,__p2,__p3

As for the new "every thu" task - if you check off a recurring task, it will not be checked, if you do it from the project view, but the date will be set to the next event (next thursday, in this case).

Please try to use a different browser and see if it still doesn't work.

If you experience the same issue in a different browser, using the above URL and a simple recurring overdue task (for example: "every day starting 1. aug 2011"), then the only other option would be to delete the not working tasks (or at least one, as an example), recreate it, wait until it's overdue and see if the same issue occurs.

David

Hallo, David!
As You can see in the screenshot http://prntscr.com/2i3g0
I set up the start page via the options menu. I'm experiencing this only in Firefox. Chrome seems to work.

Michael

Hello Michael,

thank you for the screenshot, your "Arbeitszeit" was very helpful and I've been able to reproduce this issue.

It happens when a task meets more criteria and each of them is being displayed in a search query at the same time.

Since your Arbeitszeit is a recurring priority 1 task, you're getting it twice on the search result page - under today/tomorrow (or overdue) AND under "Priority 1".

If this is your issue, it's purely cosmetic. If you check it off and see the "pending" animation, the task is still being checked off (you can check it in the project view or by refreshing the page).

Besides, it works fine if you check this task off from the "Priority 1" section of the result page.

What's still confusing is that I got this issue in both - Firefox 5 and Chrome so please confirm if you've tried checking the task from the today/tomorrow/overdue section in both browsers and not in the Priority results in Chrome.

Best regards,
David

Hello, David!

That's good news. I will just use another view: priority OR od/tod.

And You were right: The issue is also in Chrome - the unchecking worked fine in another view NOT in the chosen view "http://todoist.com/app#agenda/od,__tod,__tom,__p1,__p2,__p3"

Glad that we could solve the problem... :)

Best regards,
Michael

Hello Michael,

it has been fixed. Now you can use any view you want, mix multiple queries (od, tom, tod, p1 etc.) and you'll be able to check off tasks from all sections of the search result.

David
