Outlook 2007 issue: Outbound email stays stuck in the Outbox if Todoist for Outlook Add-in is enabled

HH

I am using Outlook 2007 on a Windows 7 machine.

When I have the Todoist for Outlook Add-in enabled, emails I send stay stuck in the Outbox. If I write an email, the email goes into the Outbox OK, but it does not leave the Outbox. It is not in italics (as it should be when it is queued for a send), but rather stays in the normal non-italic font. No matter how many times I open the email and hit the Send button, it never changes to italics and it never leaves the Outbox.

The only solution I have found is to disable the Todoist Add-in.

I would like to try using Todoist with Outlook but obviously I can't since it makes using Outlook for email impossible.

I have searched through the help forum files and have not seen anyone report anything like this.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution?

Hello Hugh,

indeed there seems to be a bug. I've forwarded this to the developers.

Thank you for pointing it out and sorry for any inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

Thanks, Dave. It's not a consistent problem - it happend between half and three-quarters of the time I send an email.

I have rebooted and the problem is still there.

I have also disabled other Add-Ons (like Xobni) that I thought might be causing a problem with Todoist. Still no joy.

I'm running Windows 7 with SP1, Build 7601

Microsoft Outlook 2007 with SP2 (12.0.6554.5001)

Loving the program and hope I can get it working with Outlook!

I found a workaround for this problem and hopefully this is helpful to you:

1. Disable Todoist
2. Open the Outlook Calendar in a new window
3. From the Outlook Calendar, enable Todoist

Now Todoist only shows up in the Calendar window and email works OK.

It's quite clumsey when you have to restart Outlook but it works.

I installed Todoist for Outlook 2007 running Windows 7 pro. I can't find it in my outlook. Restarted several times. I find no place to enable/disable or view it as a toolbar option.
Please help.

Hello Seth,

Please follow these steps:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to the "Tools" menu and choose "Trust center".
3. Select the "Add-ins" tab.

If nothing else went wrong during the installation, you should see Todoist listed there as an inactive add-in.

On the bottom of this window choose "COM Add-ins", click "Go" and check "Todoist".

If Todoist isn't there, try installing it from this window (go to COM Add-ins -> Go, choose "Add" and select the Todoist installer.

Please let me know if none of this helps.

Best regards,
David

Thank you this worked. Just curious why this information was easily accessible?

You're welcome.

This information isn't easily accessible because this shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's a bug which we're already working on and once we fix it, the Todoist add-in should be accessible instantly after installation without any further manual activation.

David

I have similar problems using Outlook 2010 for Exchange 2007 and IMAP accounts. The version of Todoist Outlook Add-In that I have installed is 2.2.0.0.
The problem exist when one has the outgoing email selected in Outbox. However, there is no prblem to send email if I have other folders/view selected like an email message in Inbox.

Seems like a bug somewhere. Kindly help. Thanks!

After trying the plugin as provided via the link above, there is another huge problem. Drafts get sent before they are are ready to tbe sent. So as long as one has the draft in the draft folder and one is IN the draft folder view, then upon sending/receiving email, the draft gets sent too. And I experience this is several occasions so I am sure that there is a bug. Kindly help.

Hi Yang,

Yes, we are aware of this issue, this is why we have gone and started a complete re-write of our plugin, to solve all the issues that we have been experiencing.

We hope to have a major update released within a couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Brendon.

What????? So the Todoist plugin above means that any email in Drafts gets sent out? That is ridiculous - my clients could get to see all sorts of "work in progress" information.

Can you please confirm how this exactly this behaviour is replicated (I do not quite follow Yyangs explanation) before I am forced to delete the plugin.

Charles.

Charles,

See the thread at [http://todoist.com/Support/showQuestion/5678/] ... I don't believe that this issue has yet been resolved ...

Randy, thanks for the heads up - very worrying indeed! Scared to even look at my draft folder now.

The temporary workaround for now is not to have any email addresses for drafts until one is ready to send the email OR not to be in the draft folder view and send/receive emails.

The first option is safer.

To Charles: if one has a draft in the draft folder and then works in other views like the Inbox, then the draft "stays put" without being sent. However, if one has a draft and is in the Draft folder view, then the draft gets sent upon sending/receiving emails.

Look forward to the updated version. Thanks!
